- G-001 Base set size disagreement. Cardboard Connection and Checklistcenter both state the base set is 100 cards (#1-100). Beckett states 139 cards and TCDB catalogs 139, both folding the Rookie Silhouettes (#101-139) into the base numbering. release.csv and base_cards.csv use 100 because the die-cut base cards are 1-100 and Rookie Silhouettes are autograph/memorabilia cards with their own Prime/Super Prime/Premium Edition parallels. Unresolved.
- G-002 No source presents explicit RC / Rookie Card designations on the base checklist. Cardboard Connection and Checklistcenter both list players without RC notation, so rookie_flag is UNKNOWN for all 100 base cards even though 2019 draft rookies (Zion Williamson 19, Ja Morant 29, RJ Barrett 39, Coby White 69, Rui Hachimura 89, Cam Reddish 99 and others) are inside the base numbering.
- G-003 Base parallel naming variance. Cardboard Connection prints 'CRYSTAL PARALLELS: Crystal, Blue #/99, Red #/49, Purple #/25, Gold #/10, Platinum 1/1.' Beckett prints the same six as 'Crystal / Blue Crystal - /99 / Red Crystal - /49 / Purple Crystal - /25 / Gold Crystal - /10 / Platinum Crystal - 1/1'. TCDB uses bare colour names plus a separate 'Crown Royale Crystal' set. parallels.csv uses the Beckett fully-qualified forms so names are unique and unambiguous; print runs agree across all sources.
- G-004 Rookie Silhouettes card count. Cardboard Connection, Checklistcenter and Beckett all state 39 cards, but Beckett also states the set runs #101-139 with no card #135 produced, which implies 38 actual cards. TCDB shows 38-39 across versions. sets.csv records 39 (the stated count from three sources).
- G-005 Release date disagreement. Cardboard Connection and Beckett both state January 31, 2020; Sports Collectors Daily's pre-release preview stated 'Scheduled for January 29 release'. release.csv uses 2020-01-31 (two post-release sources).
- G-006 No manufacturer-published numeric pull odds could be located for ANY set in this product. Panini did not publish an odds sheet for 2019-20 Crown Royale and no retailer/breaker page (DA Card World, Steel City Collectibles, Blowout, Midwest Cards, gogts, breakninja) reprints an odds line. Only per-box averages are published ('one autograph, one memorabilia card, two inserts or parallels and four base cards per hobby box, on average'). scarcity_sets.csv therefore carries a tier with a blank stated_odds, and scarcity_parallels.csv is empty.
- G-007 The case-hit tier for Kaboom! rests on Kaboom-general statements, not a statement scoped to 2019-20 Crown Royale specifically. Beckett: 'Kaboom cards are not easy to pull, often landing as a case hit.' Cardlines: 'one of the most iconic case hits that Panini has ever created.' Release-specific sources (Panini America, gogts, Steel City Collectibles) call the 2019-20 Crown Royale Kaboom! insert 'ULTRA-RARE' and 'hard to pull' but give no per-case figure. A Beckett sentence stating 'approximately one per hobby case' was deliberately NOT used because it is attached to a 50-card Kaboom checklist, i.e. a different product/year.
- G-008 Insert set name variance for the 30-card set: Cardboard Connection prints 'The Kings Court', Beckett prints "The King's Court", Checklistcenter renders it 'The Knights Court' (likely an error, as it also lists a separate Knights of the Round Table family). sets.csv uses 'The Kings Court'.
- G-009 No Kaboom! parallel ladder is documented for this release. Cardboard Connection prints explicit 'PARALLEL CARDS' lines for Air to the Throne, Lords of the Court, Rookie Royalty and The Kings Court but none for Kaboom!; TCDB lists a single 25-card Kaboom! subset with no colour variants; no marketplace evidence of a numbered 2019-20 Crown Royale Kaboom! parallel was found. Recorded as 'none documented' rather than 'confirmed none'.
- G-010 The 'Crystal' base parallel has no stated print run in any source; it is recorded as unnumbered. TCDB treating it as a standalone 100-card set is consistent with an unnumbered parallel but is not an explicit statement that it is unnumbered.
- G-011 Card counts for the insert and autograph sets are taken from Cardboard Connection and corroborated by Checklistcenter and Beckett, but TCDB shows ranges for several memorabilia sets (Coat of Arms 18-20, Hall of Fame Memorabilia 6-10, Silhouettes 28-29) because Prime/Super Prime versions carry fewer cards than the base version. sets.csv records the base-version count.
- G-012 Card-level checklists for inserts and autographs other than Kaboom! were not captured (out of scope per spec). Air to the Throne, Lords of the Court, The Kings Court and Rookie Royalty in particular have no card-level data in this extraction.
- G-013 Crown Jewel Signatures: 9 of 10 cards written. The tcdb page https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/224940/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale-Crown-Jewel-Signatures renders nine real letter codes (CJ-ADV, CJ-CBK, CJ-DLL, CJ-JEV, CJ-KDR, CJ-KIV, CJ-LBD, CJ-MJN, CJ-SON) and one bare ordinal, '1', against Kobe Bryant. A single real code settles the scheme for the set, so the bare ordinal is a placeholder, not a printed number, and the Kobe Bryant row is WITHHELD. The parallel-page test was run and came back inconclusive: Crown Jewel Signatures Premium Edition (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/224941/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale-Crown-Jewel-Signatures-Premium-Edition) renders the identical bare '1' for the same player. Cardboard Connection renumbers the whole set 1-10 and is unusable for card_number. Web searches for a 2019-20 Crown Royale Kobe Bryant Crown Jewel Signatures marketplace title carrying a CJ- code returned nothing for this season (a 2023-24 Crown Royale listing shows '#CJ-CUR', confirming the prefix family persists, but a code from another season is not evidence for this one). MISSING PLAYER: Kobe Bryant. Reopen if a seller free-text title carrying his printed code is found.
- G-014 Lineage Scripts: 38 of 39 cards written. The tcdb page https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/224955/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale-Lineage-Scripts states 'Total Cards: 39' and renders 38 real NL- codes plus one row whose card-number column holds the literal string 'TBD' against Zion Williamson. tcdb stores 'TBD' as a literal placeholder, so that row is WITHHELD. MISSING PLAYER: Zion Williamson. Note the prefix for this set is NL-, not LS-; do not infer it from the set name. Cardboard Connection (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2019-20-panini-crown-royale-basketball-cards) renumbers this coded set and is unusable for card_number. Reopen if a seller free-text title carrying Zion Williamson's printed Lineage Scripts code is found.
- G-015 Silhouettes Autographs card count: sets.csv records 29; the evidence now says 30. tcdb (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/224976/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale-Silhouettes, filed as 'Silhouettes') states 'Total Cards: 30' and renders 30 distinct SL- codes. The extra card relative to sets.csv is SL-FVV Fred VanVleet. Cardboard Connection (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2019-20-panini-crown-royale-basketball-cards) heads its list '29 cards' but its own entries run 1-11 and 13-30 - a list with a hole at its #12 and exactly one player short of tcdb's, which is consistent with Cardboard Connection having dropped one entry and then miscounted its own truncated list, rather than with tcdb inventing a card. sets.csv's 29 is not independent here: gaps.csv G-011 attributes the insert/auto counts to Cardboard Connection. The separate tcdb Silhouettes Prime page (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/224978/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale-Silhouettes-Prime) renders 29 and omits SL-DGL Danilo Gallinari, which Cardboard Connection independently explains with its parallel note 'Prime #/10 or less (No Gallinari*)' - so the Prime page's 29 is a genuine parallel-scope shortfall and NOT evidence that the base set is 29. All 30 rows are written, each individually evidenced. sets.csv was NOT modified.
- G-016 Regal Achievement Signatures card count and a same-player code collision. sets.csv records 19; the set is 20 cards. Both tcdb pages - https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/224963/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale-Regal-Achievement-Signatures and https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/224964/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale-Regal-Achievement-Signatures-Premium-Edition - state 'Total Cards: 20' and render 20 rows containing only 19 distinct codes, because TWO cards carry the printed code RA-ZLA: a Chicago Bulls Zach LaVine and a Minnesota Timberwolves Zach LaVine. Cardboard Connection (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2019-20-panini-crown-royale-basketball-cards) independently lists both as separate entries - '10 Zach LaVine - Chicago Bulls #/ 49' and '14 Zach LaVine - Minnesota Timberwolves #/ 49' - and its own entry list runs to 20 even though its section header says '19 cards', which is the likely origin of sets.csv's 19. CONSEQUENCE FOR THE DATA: chase_cards is unique on (set_id, card_number, player_name), and these two cards agree on all three. Only ONE RA-ZLA row could be written, and team_or_school is left EMPTY on it because two teams are attested and nothing settles which belongs to the single representable row. This is the only row in this release with an empty team_or_school. 19 rows written against a 20-card set; the unwritten card is the second Zach LaVine. sets.csv was NOT modified.
- G-017 Hall of Fame Memorabilia: the card number HF-SB is rendered against Scottie Pippen. Every other suffix in this 10-card set matches its player's initials (HF-AI Allen Iverson, HF-CD Clyde Drexler, HF-GH Grant Hill, HF-HO Hakeem Olajuwon, HF-KM Karl Malone, HF-LB Larry Bird, HF-PE Patrick Ewing, HF-SO Shaquille O'Neal), so HF-SB for Scottie Pippen looks like a transposition of HF-SP. It was NOT repaired. Three things were checked first: the Prime parallel page https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/224943/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale-Hall-of-Fame-Memorabilia-Prime renders the identical HF-SB / Scottie Pippen pairing; https://www.tcdb.com/Errors.cfm/sid/217474/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale returns 'No errors or variations have been added for this set yet', so there is no documented Panini UER either way; and a marketplace search for a seller title carrying HF-SB returned nothing for this card. Panini codes are demonstrably not derivable from initials, so a mismatch is not by itself evidence of an error. The token is written verbatim as rendered. Reopen if a seller free-text title shows the printed code. (Note HF-YA for Yao Ming is also not first-initial/last-initial but is readable as 'YAo' and is not treated as anomalous.) [CORRECTED 2026-09-20: THE Errors.cfm SENTENCE QUOTED ABOVE IS NOT EVIDENCE AND THE CONCLUSION DRAWN FROM IT DOES NOT HOLD. Measured 2026-09-20 on tcdb sid 182809: Errors.cfm returns that identical sentence for a set whose own renderings carry UER on at least two cards (card 260 Mo Bamba, "UER: Statline says Undrafted, was actually drafted 6th", confirmed under &sort=0; card 67 Justin Jackson, "Career stat line is that of Kosta Koufos"). The endpoint returns the same string on a set that provably HAS errata and on one that appears not to, so it discriminates nothing and its silence is uninformative. WHAT SURVIVES: any claim here about base_set_size, about the base run being contiguous, or about no numbered block sitting past the base run, because those rest on the independent contiguous enumeration also cited in this note - the last rendered Gallery page, the empty page after it, and the per-row flag column. WHAT DOES NOT SURVIVE: the narrower claim that NO VARIATION SET EXISTS. A variation set renders as b-suffixed rows (101a/101b) that a base-run enumeration is not designed to surface, and Errors.cfm was the documented route to it, so that claim is now unsupported rather than disproved - it may still be true. Not re-fetched; recorded so it is not read as settled. See reference/caveats.csv CAV-020.]
- G-018 RESOLVED HERE, refining G-001 and G-004: Rookie Silhouettes has NO tcdb sid of its own and is filed inside the PARENT checklist as a numbered block past the base run. tcdb's Inserts.cfm for sid 217474 lists Rookie Silhouettes Premium Edition (224971), Prime (224972) and Super Prime (224973) but no base sid, while every other set in sets.csv maps cleanly to one; and the parent set page (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/217474/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale) states 'Total Cards: 139' against a 100-card base run - an overshoot of exactly this set's card_count. Reading the parent past the base run via https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/217474/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale?PageIndex=11 through PageIndex=14 returns the block. THE BLOCK RUNS 101-140, NOT 101-139: numbers 101-134 and 136-140 are present and 135 is absent, giving 39 cards, which matches sets.csv's card_count of 39 exactly and confirms the Beckett claim in G-004 that no card 135 was produced - while correcting the stated range, which ends at 140. tcdb's parent 'Total Cards: 139' is a count (100 + 39), not a highest number. Corroborated number-for-number and name-for-name by Cardboard Connection (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2019-20-panini-crown-royale-basketball-cards), whose list also runs 101-140 with no 135, and by an independent retailer listing title, 'Coby White 2019-20 Crown Royale Rookie Silhouettes Prime #137 RPA #25/25' at https://basketballcardguy.com/products/coby-white-2019-20-crown-royale-rookie-silhouettes-prime-137-rpa-25-25 (checked for and free of tcdb flag strings), which matches the block's #137 Coby White. All 39 rows written. G-004 may be considered answered: the count is 39 and the numbering is 101-140 less 135.
- G-019 Chase-checklist run summary, 2026-09-11 (supersedes the scope statement in G-012, which said card-level insert and autograph checklists were not captured). 17 sets attempted, 496 cards per sets.csv, 495 rows written; Kaboom! (25) was already complete and was not touched. 14 of 17 sets reconcile exactly against sets.csv. Shortfalls: Crown Jewel Signatures 9/10 (G-013), Lineage Scripts 38/39 (G-014). Count contradictions found in sets.csv: Silhouettes Autographs is 30 not 29 (G-015) and Regal Achievement Signatures is 20 not 19 (G-016); 30 and 19 rows were written respectively and sets.csv was not modified. SOURCE CALIBRATION FOR THIS RELEASE: tcdb ViewSet.cfm was the primary source for all 16 sid-bearing sets and renders card number, player AND team inline. Cardboard Connection (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2019-20-panini-crown-royale-basketball-cards) was calibrated PER SET TYPE and splits exactly as the spec predicts for Panini: it reproduces the four plain-numbered inserts (Air to the Throne 1-10, Lords of the Court 1-21, Rookie Royalty 1-39, The Kings Court 1-30) and the Rookie Silhouettes 101-140 block number-for-number against tcdb, and it renumbers EVERY letter-coded set 1..N (e.g. Crown Autographs as '1 DeMarcus Cousins ... 60 Sam Cassell' where the cards read CA-AEG ... CA-WMT). It was therefore used for card_number only on the plain sets and as a roster-only corroborator on the coded ones. PREFIX COLLISION INSIDE THIS RELEASE: the prefix CA- is used by BOTH Crown Autographs (three-letter suffixes) and the Coat of Arms insert (two-letter suffixes). No exact code collides between them, but (set_name, card_number) is the only safe key. The two similarly-named 30-card sets do NOT share a prefix: the non-autographed Knights of the Round Table insert uses KT- and Knights of the Round Table Jersey Autographs uses KR-. Lineage Scripts uses NL-, not LS-. GENUINE INITIALS COLLISIONS WRITTEN VERBATIM (two players, one printed code): CA-TYG Thaddeus Young / Trae Young; RY-JST John Starks / John Stockton; CA-KL Kawhi Leonard / Kevin Love; KT-JH James Harden / Jaxson Hayes. ENUMERATION COMPLETENESS: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/217474/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale listed 73 entries in one contiguous block, sids 224911-224985. Its only numeric gap, sids 224917 and 224918, was probed via https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/224917/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale and https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/224918/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale and both belong to a foreign product (2007-08 SHL Elitset), so the block is bounded and nothing is hiding in the gap. ENDPOINT NOTE CONTRADICTING THE SPEC'S OPEN QUESTION: Gallery.cfm DOES render team on this release - https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/217474/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale?PageIndex=11 through PageIndex=14 returned card number, player name AND team for all 39 Rookie Silhouettes rows, and https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/224925/2019-20-Panini-Crown-Royale-Coat-of-Arms?PageIndex=1 and ?PageIndex=2 did the same for Coat of Arms. team_or_school is filled for every set in this release, with the single documented exception in G-016.
