  • G-001 Release date disagreement: cardboardconnection.com, checklistcenter.com, tcdb.com, midwestcards.com, and blog.paniniamerica.net's own QC Gallery post publish date all state November 17, 2021 (5-source agreement); Steel City Collectibles' hobby box listing states 12/6/21. Resolved release_date to 2021-11-17; the Steel City date is logged here rather than adopted.
  • G-002 No 2020-21-specific Panini Hobby/Retail Product Information Sheet (PIS) PDF was found on blog.paniniamerica.net despite multiple targeted searches and direct URL-pattern guesses (following the naming convention of the 2019-20 Illusions PIS PDFs and other 2021 Panini basketball PIS PDFs found in search, e.g. 20-21_Impeccable_BK_HOBBY_PIS.pdf). Only the 2019-20 Illusions PIS PDFs are discoverable. Panini's own 'Quality Control Gallery' blog post for 2020-21 Illusions Basketball (published 2021-11-17) was used as the best available first-party source instead; it explicitly names Gold/Green/Purple as hobby-exclusive base parallels and Double Vision/Fantasy Matchups/Illuminated/Rookie Vision as hobby-exclusive inserts, but does not cover retail/blaster/mega/Asia channel assignments the way the 2019-20 PIS PDFs did. [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.] [REVIEWED 2026-08-19: still open; 95 of 108 parallels lack a sourced channel.]
  • G-003 Base 'Trophy Collection' Bronze parallel (unnumbered) corroborated for existence by 2 sources (cardboardconnection.com, checklistcenter.com), but no source ties it to a specific channel this season (contrast with 2019-20, where Panini's own blog called it hobby on single-source evidence). Left as channel=UNKNOWN. • G-004 Base 'Trophy Collection' Pink parallel (unnumbered) corroborated for existence by 2 sources, but no source specifies its channel. Left as channel=UNKNOWN. Note Pink is also independently used as a parallel-tier color within several insert/auto sets' own parallel trees (recorded separately in sets.csv notes) — those are not the same print run as the base Pink parallel.
  • G-005 Base 'Trophy Collection' Starlight parallel corroborated for existence by 2 sources. A single eBay reseller listing ('20-21 Panini Illusions Basketball 20PK Cello Box Exclusive Starlight Parallels') claims Cello-box channel exclusivity, but this conflicts with 4 independent retailer sources (DA Card World, ToyWiz, an Amazon listing title, shoppieceofthegame.com) that identify the same-shaped 20-pack/12-card cello/value box as carrying Orange+Teal exclusive parallels instead. Per the project's rule against tiering/sourcing from marketplace listing copy, the eBay claim was not adopted; Starlight is left channel=UNKNOWN rather than guessing which claim is correct. • G-006 Base 'Trophy Collection' Red #/99 parallel corroborated for existence/print run by 2 sources (cardboardconnection.com, checklistcenter.com), but no source specifies its channel this season (contrast with 2019-20, where Panini's own blog called this tier hobby on single-source evidence). Left as channel=UNKNOWN. • G-008 Base 'Trophy Collection' Blue #/25 parallel corroborated for existence/print run by 2 sources, but no source specifies its channel this season (contrast with 2019-20, where Panini's own blog called this tier hobby on single-source evidence). Left as channel=UNKNOWN. • G-009 Print run conflict: Panini's own Quality Control Gallery blog post (blog.paniniamerica.net) states Green is 'numbered to 15', but 4 independent sources (cardboardconnection.com, checklistcenter.com, Steel City Collectibles, midwestcards.com) all state #/5. Resolved print_run to 5 on the 4-source majority; the blog's '15' figure is logged here as a rejected/likely-erroneous first-party claim rather than silently discarded.
  • G-010 Card count disagreement: cardboardconnection.com states 40 cards (with a full per-color parallel breakdown), checklistcenter.com states 39. No card-level checklist was found to settle the exact count. Set to 40 in sets.csv on cardboardconnection's more detailed sourcing, but this is single-source confidence for the specific number; the checklistcenter figure is logged here rather than silently dropped.
  • G-011 In the 2019-20 sibling product, these four insert sets were explicitly called 'retail-exclusive' by checklistcenter.com. For 2020-21, no source makes that claim: cardboardconnection.com's insert list carries no exclusivity language for any insert set beyond the 4 explicitly named hobby-exclusive by Panini's own QC Gallery blog post (Double Vision, Fantasy Matchups, Illuminated, Rookie Vision), and Steel City Collectibles' hobby box listing includes Career Lineage/Instant Impact/Rookie Reflections/Season Highlights among the hobby box's available inserts without exclusivity language — implying they may NOT be retail-exclusive this season, unlike 2019-20. Left as channel-exclusivity UNKNOWN in sets.csv notes rather than carrying over the prior season's assignment. • G-012 The Asia/Tmall-SKU base parallel family is named two different ways across sources: cardboardconnection.com/checklistcenter.com give 'ASIA TROPHY COLLECTION PARALLELS: Base, Red, Gold #/25, Lucky Envelopes #/8' (no 'Asia' prefix, presumably because it's already under an 'Asia' heading), while DA Card World's Asia Tmall box listing names them 'Asia, Asia Red, and Asia Gold'. Recorded in parallels.csv as 'Asia', 'Asia Red', 'Asia Gold' to keep names unique against the unrelated main-ladder Red #/99 and Gold #/10 tiers; treated as the same 3-parallel family described two ways, not additional parallels.
  • G-013 No manufacturer odds sheet, editorial SSP designation, or 'X per case'/'1:N packs' language was found for any set or parallel in this release, despite checking blog.paniniamerica.net (no 2020-21 PIS PDF located; see G-002), cardboardconnection.com, checklistcenter.com, and multiple retailer product pages. Marketplace listings (eBay, YouTube box-break titles) use 'SSP'/'case hit' language for specific pulls (e.g. a LeBron James Starlight card advertised as 'Case Hit SSP'), but per the project's hard rule against tiering from eBay/marketplace copy, none of this was treated as evidence. scarcity_sets.csv, scarcity_parallels.csv and ssp_cards.csv are therefore empty by design, not by omission — consistent with the 2019-20 sibling's result.
  • G-014 cardboardconnection.com's box breakdown lists a standard 'Retail' SKU configuration (6 cards per pack, 20 packs per box) distinct from the 20-pack/12-card 'Cello'/'Fat Pack'/'Jumbo Value' SKU that Orange/Teal are confirmed exclusive to (see parallels.csv). No source was found naming an exclusive parallel for this separate standard-retail-blister SKU specifically; it may carry no exclusive parallel of its own, or may be the SKU the single conflicting eBay 'Starlight' claim (G-005) actually referred to. Left unresolved.

  • G-026 Card count contradiction, three-way. sets.csv records 40 (single-source, cardboardconnection.com; already logged as G-010). tcdb's base page https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/291302/2020-21-Panini-Illusions-First-Impressions-Jersey-Autographs renders 38 rows. All THREE tcdb parallel tiers (Gold sid 291303, Green sid 291304, Purple sid 291305) render 39 rows - the same 38 plus FI-SBY Saddiq Bey. checklistcenter.com's independent roster also lists exactly those 39 names (its ordering is unrelated to tcdb's alphabetical-by-suffix, so the agreement is genuine corroboration rather than a shared upstream). 39 rows were therefore written to insert_cards.csv, with FI-SBY cited to the parallel pages. sets.csv was NOT edited. Note also that checklistcenter's own footnote reads '39 Cards (*No Bey)', which contradicts its own list; that footnote was not adopted.
  • G-027 WITHHELD ROW, PLAYER NAMED: RS-JAD / Jaden McDaniels. tcdb's Rookie Signs base page https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/291306/2020-21-Panini-Illusions-Rookie-Signs renders 39 rows including RS-JAD Jaden McDaniels. That row rests on that ONE page and is contradicted by everything else reachable: all five tcdb parallel tiers (Emerald sid 291308, Sapphire sid 291311, Orange sid 291309, Pink sid 291310, Asia Red and Yellow sid 291307) render 38 rows without it; sets.csv independently records card_count 38 (its note cites cardboardconnection/checklistcenter, not tcdb, so the tiebreaker is armed); checklistcenter.com's independent 38-name roster does not contain him; and https://www.sportscardspro.com/console/basketball-cards-2020-panini-illusions-rookie-signs, which prints real RS- codes and passed calibration on this set, has no RS-JAD between RS-IOK and RS-JAH. The 38 corroborated rows were written and this one withheld. If a later pass finds a marketplace title reading RS-JAD, the row is recoverable from this note.
  • G-028 Roster composition conflict on Rookie Signs, recorded rather than resolved by inference. checklistcenter.com and breakninja.com both render a 40-slot list with slots 7 and 23 vacant, and both treat Mason Jones and Nathan Knight as not produced (checklistcenter footnote '38 Cards (*No Jones, Knight)'; breakninja renders only 36 lines, omitting both). tcdb carries RS-MJO Mason Jones and RS-NKN Nathan Knight on all SIX of its pages for this set (base plus five parallels) with real coded numbers, and sportscardspro.com reproduces both codes. Both were therefore written. The two aggregators share an upstream and count as one opinion, not two. Separately: checklistcenter's numbering runs 1..40 on a list it calls 38 cards - the same 'ordinals running past the stated size' failure mode recorded for this line in 2019-20 - so no aggregator was used for a card_number anywhere in this release.
  • G-029 All 20 rows of Rookie Retro Signatures rest on a SINGLE tcdb page, https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/290063/2020-21-Panini-Illusions-Rookie-Retro-Signatures. tcdb's Inserts.cfm lists no parallel tier for this set and sets.csv likewise records none, so the parallel-page test was unavailable and no union could be performed. The count (20) and the roster are corroborated by checklistcenter.com (roster only - it renumbers the set 1..20), and the RR- prefix is confirmed by a clean marketplace seller title (https://www.ebay.com/itm/255505883295), but no individual card_number other than RR-RWL has a second source.
  • G-030 Four of the thirteen plain 1..N insert runs could NOT be confirmed against a fetched marketplace seller title naming a player at a specific number: Double Vision, Fantasy Matchups, Illuminated, Rookie Vision. Their rows are written from tcdb Checklist.cfm alone (rosters corroborated by checklistcenter.com). Rejected candidates and why: for Illuminated only eBay /p/ catalogue pages exist; for Rookie Vision both eBay /itm/ pages reached had been retitled to eBay's catalogue form and carried the tcdb flag string '(RC)'; for Fantasy Matchups the only match was an Amazon search-result snippet ('2020-21 PANINI ILLUSIONS FANTASY MATCHUPS #10 ALLEN IVERSON/BEN SIMMONS 76ERS BASKETBALL NBA') whose page is robots-blocked, and a search-result title is not the listing; for Double Vision no marketplace page naming a card number was found at all. The other nine runs WERE confirmed: Amazing #20 (ebay.com/itm/224800054103), Career Lineage #12 (kronozio.com), Clear Shots #17 (sportsmemorabilia.com), Instant Impact #8 (pristineauction.com), Living Legends #20 (millcreeksports.com), Mystique #20 (ebay.de/itm/405845866734), Rookie Reflections #16 (kronozio.com), Season Highlights #25 (ebay.com/itm/125911845259), Shining Stars #10 (ebay.de/itm/203786896026).
  • G-031 Two of the five autograph prefixes could not be confirmed by a clean marketplace seller title. FI- (First Impressions Jersey Autographs): no 2020-21 seller title carrying an FI- code was reachable; every search hit was either a 2021-22 card (which uses FIJ-, a different prefix) or a 2021-22 Chronicles Draft Picks card (which uses FI-). RS- (Rookie Signs): five eBay /itm/ pages were fetched and every one was contaminated - RS-SEA and RS-KWS and RS-PRD pages carried the tcdb flag string '(AU, RC)' in the title or in the breadcrumb module, and the RS-SEA page had been retitled from the seller free text shown in the search snippet to eBay's own catalogue form. RS- is instead corroborated by https://www.sportscardspro.com/console/basketball-cards-2020-panini-illusions-rookie-signs, which renders the full alphabetical RS- run with real codes. The three prefixes that WERE confirmed by clean seller titles: SUP- (https://www.ebay.com/itm/137120159481), RR- (https://www.ebay.com/itm/255505883295), TC- (https://www.ebay.com/itm/256574244903).
  • G-032 Composition findings from the tcdb sid enumeration for this release, reported not edited. (1) Twelve parallel sids that sets.csv describes have NO tcdb page: Career Lineage, Instant Impact, Rookie Reflections and Season Highlights each carry Gold, Green and Purple tiers in sets.csv, and https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/289904/2020-21-Panini-Illusions lists none of them. (2) A 'Trophy Collection Signatures Green' parallel appears in a retailer product title (morrisontradingpost.com, '2020-21 Panini Illusions Trophy Collection Signatures Green Isaiah Roby Auto'; the page itself now 404s) but exists neither in sets.csv's parallel list for that set (Emerald, Sapphire, Orange, Asia Red & Yellow, Pink) nor on tcdb - a possible uncatalogued tier, single-source, not adopted. (3) The sid arithmetic reconciles in the other direction from 2019-20: Inserts.cfm lists 106 insert sids, which is exactly the 18 sets.csv non-base sets plus the 88 scoped parallels tcdb actually carries, and 19 base-set parallel sids matching the 19-row base parallel ladder. Every one of the 18 sets has its own base sid this season - unlike 2019-20, where Astounding had eight parallel sids and no base sid. A balanced count still does not prove composition: item (1) shows twelve real parallels missing from that listing.
  • G-033 GENUINE DUPLICATE CODE, written verbatim and flagged rather than dropped: SUP-LUD is printed on two different cards in Superlatives Signatures - Luka Doncic and Luguentz Dort. A narrow verbatim re-fetch of https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/289957/Panini-Illusions-2020-21-Basketball-Superlatives-Signatures-Cards returned two distinct ViewCard cids (Luka Doncic 17569398, Luguentz Dort 17569379), and the Gold parallel (sid 290535) reproduces both rows. Two players, so this is an ordinary initials collision (LUka Doncic / LUguentz Dort), not the four-or-more-player pattern that indicates a data-entry smear. Consequence: (set_name, card_number) is not unique for this set; (set_name, card_number, player_name) is.
