- G-001 Noir addendum classification, recorded because the addendum asks for it explicitly. 2017-18 Panini Noir is CASE (b), a partitioned base numbering, and NOT case (c) for its BASE SET. The base run 1-200 is four named, contiguous, non-overlapping ranges -- Base Home 1-70, Rookies Home 71-100, Base Away 101-170, Rookies Away 171-200 -- which tile 1-200 exactly. Evidence that decides it: the Home and Away versions of the same player carry DIFFERENT card numbers, so no base number exists twice. tcdb renders card 1 Damian Lillard and card 101 Damian Lillard, card 36 Taurean Prince and card 136 Taurean Prince, card 41 Kawhi Leonard and card 141 Kawhi Leonard, card 70 Stephen Curry and card 170 Stephen Curry, card 71 Malik Monk and card 171 Malik Monk, card 100 Maxi Kleber and card 200 Maxi Kleber. All 200 numbers were enumerated directly on tcdb and every one is issued exactly once, with no suffixed row and no non-integer card number anywhere in 1-200. checklistcenter.com attaches the names to the ranges independently, printing the sub-headings Base Home, Rookies Home, Base Away and Rookies Away inside its Base Set section with first and last lines matching the tcdb enumeration at every boundary. - G-002 CASE (c), THE TRUE DUAL-VERSION STRUCTURE THE ADDENDUM DESCRIBES, IS REAL IN THIS RELEASE -- but it occurs in the AUTOGRAPH BLOCK at cards 301-360, not in the base set, and the schema cannot express it. tcdb renders each of those card numbers TWICE, both rows flagged 'AU, MEM, RC, VAR, SN99', with the row note '*VAR: Black and White*' distinguishing the versions. Measured directly: the parent checklist renders the card-number column as 301, 301, 302, 302, 303, 303, 304, 304 with NO letter suffix on either member of a pair, and a fetch asked whether any number repeats answered that 314 appears twice, once as the Black and White variant and once as the Color variant of Bam Adebayo; Gallery page 36 renders 328, 328, 329, 329, 330, 330, 332, 332, 333, 333. checklistcenter.com agrees, giving Rookie Patch Auto Black and White and Rookie Patch Auto Color the IDENTICAL range 301-330 and Auto Prime Rookie Black and White and Auto Prime Rookie Color the IDENTICAL range 332-360. What the schema could not hold: cards.card_number is UNIQUE per release and INTEGER NOT NULL, so one release cannot carry two cards numbered 314; base_card_tiers ranges must tile without overlap, so the two versions cannot be tiers; and the block sits entirely past base_set_size, so it can be neither a base-set parallel nor a block parallel of a tiered base run. The four halves were therefore written as four separate sets.csv rows carrying the same card ranges, and NO base card or card-level row was written for any of them. This is a genuine expressiveness gap, not a research failure. - G-003 SIX OF SEVEN UNHEDGED EDITORIAL PRINT-RUN FIGURES FOR THIS RELEASE ARE REFUTED BY ENUMERATION. checklistcenter.com states a flat '#/N' for seven Prime tiers. Sweeping the DISTINCT serial-token set of every rendered row on each tier's own tcdb page, rather than sampling, refutes six of them and confirms one. Refuted: Box Office Memorabilia Prime, stated #/25, renders SN25, SN24, SN10, SN5 and SN3; Episodic Material Prime Relics, stated #/25, renders SN25, SN18, SN10 and SN6; Jumbo Material Prime Relics, stated #/10, renders SN10, SN8, SN7, SN4, SN2 and SN1; New Wave Jersey Prime Relics, stated #/25, renders SN25 and SN10; Rookie Jumbo Materials Prime Relics, stated #/10, renders SN10 and SN3; and separately the SET Icons Memorabilia, stated #/99, renders SN99 and SN49, the SET Jumbo Materials, stated #/99, renders SN49, SN99 and SN35, and the SET Autographed Prime Color, stated #/20, renders SN20 and SN12. Confirmed: Two-Shot Rookie Jersey Prime Relics, stated #/25, renders SN25 on all 37 rows. Every refuted figure would have looked like a clean sourced integer under a three-row sample. The card COUNTS on the same lines were all confirmed; it is only the print runs that fail. Sources: https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball/ ; https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir
- G-004 Six set-scope parallel tiers are PROVABLY serial numbered with a PER-CARD VARIABLE run, a state this schema cannot express, so all six carry print_run=UNKNOWN and serial_numbered=UNKNOWN and the real tokens are quoted in visual_notes. UNKNOWN here does NOT mean unnumbered. The six, with the distinct tokens observed on their own tcdb pages: Box Office Memorabilia Prime (sid 181193) -- SN25 on most rows plus SN24, SN10, SN5 and SN3; Episodic Materials Prime (181197) -- SN25 on sixteen rows plus SN18, SN10 and SN6; Icons Memorabilia Prime (181200) -- SN10 on thirty-eight rows and SN9 on one; Jumbo Materials Prime (181204) -- SN10 on forty-four rows plus SN8, SN7, SN4, SN2 and SN1; New Wave Jerseys Prime (181206) -- SN25 on thirty-five rows and SN10 on four; Rookie Jumbo Materials Prime (181210) -- SN10 on thirty-five rows and SN3 on one. That is 6 of the 23 parallel rows in this release, a 26 per cent variable rate, against the 22 per cent measured on 2018-19 Noir. This is the same modelling gap recorded in the extraction spec section 2.3. Source listing: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir
- G-005 THREE SETS HAVE A VARIABLE PRINT RUN AND sets.csv HAS NO print_run COLUMN TO SAY SO, so the finding survives only in prose. Autographed Prime Color (tcdb sid 181190) renders SN20 on thirty-five of thirty-six rows and SN12 on one (Isaiah Thomas); Icons Memorabilia (181199) renders SN99 on thirty-eight of forty rows and SN49 on one (Paul Silas); Jumbo Materials (181202) renders SN49 on thirty rows, SN99 on twenty-nine and SN35 on one. Each has an editorial flat figure that the enumeration refutes. No figure was written into any structured field for any of the three, and none of the three was turned into a parallels.csv row to smuggle the number in, because they are sets in their own right and not parallel tiers. Sources: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/181190/x ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/181199/x ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/181202/x ; https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball/
- G-006 Card-count disagreements between checklistcenter.com and the two other lineages, resolved against checklistcenter each time and recorded here. checklistcenter states 'Auto Prime Black and White: 40 Cards' and 'Auto Prime Color: 40 Cards', while tcdb states Total Cards 36 for both (sids 181188 and 181190) and sportscardchecklist.com independently lists both at 36 Cards. For Autographed Prime Black and White the 36 was confirmed at the row level: its gallery has four pages and the fourth renders six tiles, so the set ends at 36. The 40 that checklistcenter states appears instead to be the size of the corresponding Tag parallel, which tcdb states and renders as 40 for both. 36 was written for the sets and 40 for the Tag parallels. Sources: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/181188/x ; https://www.sportscardchecklist.com/sport-basketball/year-2017-18/index-panini-noir/trading-card-checklists-and-product-information ; https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball/
- G-007 The five-way split of the 100-card Metal Frame block at cards 201-300 rests on checklistcenter.com alone for the RANGES. Only the block total of 100 and its #/25 are corroborated: tcdb's parent renders SN25 on the 201-300 rows and gogts.net reproduces Panini's own line 'ALL metal frame cards are #'d/25!'; sportscardchecklist.com lists the block as four checklists (Metal Frame Alternate 50 Cards, Feature Length 20, Split Screen 20, Vintage Art 10) totalling the same 100 but COMBINING the two Alternate sections that checklistcenter splits 30 plus 20. tcdb catalogues no sid at all for any of the five, so no card-level check of the interior boundaries was possible; the boundaries 201, 230, 231, 250, 251, 270, 271 that tcdb does render all match checklistcenter's first and last lines. The 30 plus 20 split of the first fifty is the single-source claim. - G-008 Metal Frame naming divergence, left as the majority of sources print it. checklistcenter.com heads the third sub-section 'Base Metal Frame Featured Length Set' while sportscardchecklist.com lists 'Feature Length' and gogts.net's reproduction of the Panini sell-sheet line also reads 'Feature Length'; 'Feature Length' was written. The first two sub-sections are named only by checklistcenter as 'Metal Frame Alternate' and 'Metal Frame Rookie Alternate', with gogts.net's prose form being 'Alternate Metal Frame Base' and 'Alternate Metal Frame Rookies'; checklistcenter's forms were written because they are the ones attached to actual card ranges. Nothing was renamed away from a source. - G-009 Channel is UNKNOWN with an empty channel_basis on all 23 parallel rows and UNKNOWN on all four base tiers. No source consulted -- tcdb, cardboardconnection.com, checklistcenter.com, sportscardchecklist.com, gogts.net, steelcitycollectibles.com -- states a trade channel, box SKU or region for any individual tier. The PRODUCT is hobby-only: steelcitycollectibles.com sells '2017-18 Panini Noir Basketball Hobby Box' and offers no other format, cardboardconnection.com states 'Product Configuration: 10 cards per pack, 1 pack per box, 4 boxes per case' with '7 Autographs or Memorabilia Cards', and gogts.net states '4 boxes/1 pack/10 cards'. But that places the product, not any tier, so it was not promoted to sourced-presence on any row. DIVERGENCE: noir-bkb-2019-20 writes channel=hobby with channel_basis=unsupported on its three base parallels and channel=hobby on all four of its base tiers, on the same evidence shape, while noir-bkb-2018-19 writes UNKNOWN as this release does. Same question, two conventions already in the catalogue, and nothing on any of those rows tells a reader which one it is under. Recorded rather than smoothed over. Sources: https://www.steelcitycollectibles.com/i/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball-hobby-box ; https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball-nba-cards ; https://gogts.net/2017-18-panini-noir-nba-basketball-cards/
- G-010 rookie_flag basis. tcdb renders the literal token RC on every row of cards 71-100 and 171-200 and on no row of cards 1-70 or 101-170. The split was confirmed WITHIN A SINGLE RENDERING in both directions, which is the strongest form of the discriminative test: one Checklist.cfm page-1 fetch asked for cards 66 to 75 returned 66, 67, 68, 69 and 70 with SN79 only and 71, 72, 73, 74 and 75 with RC and SN79, and one Checklist.cfm page-2 fetch asked for cards 166 to 175 returned the same split at 170 and 171. Because the token is present on some rows and absent on others inside one rendering, the absence is a positive discriminative signal rather than a silent drop, so rookie_flag=no was written for 1-70 and 101-170 rather than UNKNOWN. It is corroborated structurally by checklistcenter.com, which files 71-100 and 171-200 under Rookies Home and Rookies Away sub-headings. A reader who disagrees with that reading should treat the 140 'no' values as unresolved. Sources: https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir?PageIndex=1&x=5 ; https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir?PageIndex=2&x=6
- G-011 No claim is made about whether this release has a base-set variation layer, and Errors.cfm was NOT consulted for one, because CAV-020 records that its silence discriminates nothing. What DOES survive is the base run itself: cards 1-200 were enumerated contiguously and every number was rendered exactly once, with no suffixed row and no non-integer card number seen, across tcdb Checklist pages 1 and 2 and Gallery pages 5, 8, 9, 10, 15, 18, 19 and 20, and independently a second full time on each of the two base parallels, Gold sid 180830 and Platinum sid 180831, both of which state Total Cards 200 and paginate to exactly twenty gallery pages. Separately, card 331 IS NOT ISSUED anywhere in this release: tcdb's parent renders 330 followed by 332 and both autograph blocks skip it, and cards 323 and 325 are likewise absent from the 301-330 block. Those three unissued numbers all sit PAST base_set_size and so do not touch the base run or the tier file. Per the spec's section 5.5 mirror, the 2018-19 Noir parent was NOT checked for a 2017-18 Update block, so the unissued claim is about the packed product only. Sources: https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir ; https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir?PageIndex=36&sort=0
- G-012 tcdb sid layout for this release, recorded so a later pass need not re-derive it, together with the completeness argument for the set inventory. The parent is sid 174723, Total Cards 360, and its gallery paginates to 40 pages. Inserts.cfm on the parent delivered all 36 entries in ONE response with no truncation -- 34 under Insert Sets and 2 under Parallel Sets (Gold 180830, Platinum 180831). The insert sids occupy 181186-181215 contiguously plus four far outliers at 293977-293980, which are the four Tags parallels of the autograph blocks. NO sid range was swept and therefore no sid boundary was probed; the enumeration is Inserts.cfm, which the 2017-18 scope memo measured as complete and non-interpolating on all three parents it tested. The completeness check used instead is stronger and is a cross-source reconciliation that comes out EXACT: sportscardchecklist.com, an independent lineage, lists 45 checklist entries for this product, and 45 = the 34 tcdb insert sids + Gold + Platinum + the base set + the 4 autograph parents that have no tcdb sid of their own (Rookie Patch Autographs Black and White and Color, Autographed Prime Rookies Black and White and Color) + the 4 Metal Frame entries. Nothing is left over on either side. Sources: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir ; https://www.sportscardchecklist.com/sport-basketball/year-2017-18/index-panini-noir/trading-card-checklists-and-product-information ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir
- G-013 No stated numeric pack odds were found for any set or parallel in this release, consistent with CAV-015 recording that Panini publishes no odds for basketball. Every stated_odds, odds_evidence_url and odds_evidence_quote field is therefore empty, and that is evidenced absence of a published figure rather than unfinished research. The only per-box figure any source gives is an average, not an odds statement: steelcitycollectibles.com prints 'Box Break: 7 autographs or memorabilia cards per box on average!' and cardboardconnection.com prints '7 Autographs or Memorabilia Cards'. scarcity_tier was also left empty throughout, as the scarcity pass is a separate spec. Sources: https://www.steelcitycollectibles.com/i/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball-hobby-box ; https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball-nba-cards
- G-014 Base print run recorded so a reader does not read it as a typo. 2017-18 Noir base cards are #/79. That is the THIRD distinct base print run this line has carried in three consecutive seasons: 79 in 2017-18, 85 in 2018-19, and 99 in every season from 2019-20 to 2024-25. Nothing was inherited from a sibling. The 79 is stated in words by two independent sources -- cardboardconnection.com '200 cards. Serial numbered #/79.' and checklistcenter.com '200 Cards - Serial Numbered #/79' -- tcdb renders the literal token SN79 on every one of the 200 base rows, and eBay's card catalogue independently titles base cards '2017-18 Panini Noir - Home Taurean Prince #36 /79' and '2017-18 Panini Noir - Away Paul George #109 /79', neither title carrying any tcdb flag string. Sources: https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball-nba-cards ; https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball/ ; https://www.ebay.com/p/13056544742 ; https://www.ebay.de/itm/267384178199
- G-015 Release date is 2018-08-01 and nothing contradicted it. cardboardconnection.com prints 'Release Date: 08/01/2018'; tcdb's own parent page prints 'August 1, 2018'; steelcitycollectibles.com prints 'Release Date: 8/1/18'. No source labelled its date an estimate and no source disagreed, so this season has none of the estimated-date regression the 2017-18 scope memo records for Ascension, Prestige and Threads. beckett.com could not be consulted at all: every request to its 2017-18 Noir article 302-redirects to maintenance.beckett.com, so the usual independent structural check on the date and on the set inventory is missing for this release. Sources: https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball-nba-cards ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir ; https://www.steelcitycollectibles.com/i/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball-hobby-box
- G-016 THE TIER NAMES WERE NEARLY MISSED, AND THE FETCH LAYER IS LOSSY IN BOTH DIRECTIONS ON THE PAGE THAT CARRIES THEM. checklistcenter.com's Base Set section prints a card-count line of '200 Cards - Serial Numbered #/79' but its top-level list runs only 1 to 100, which reads exactly like an aggregator header disagreeing with its own list. It is not: the page carries four sub-headings, Base Home, Rookies Home, Base Away and Rookies Away, and the 101-200 lines sit under the last two. THREE differently parameterised fetches of the same URL were needed to establish this. The FIRST fetch, asked for every heading beginning '2017-18 Panini Noir - Base', returned six headings and did not mention the sub-headings at all; a second, asked whether any card between 101 and 200 appears on the page, returned 'Base Away' with the lines for 101, 109, 136 and 200; a third, asked to quote the nearest heading above the line '101 Damian Lillard', returned 'Base Away' and, for card 200, 'Rookies Away'. A fourth, asked to list the sub-headings with their first and last lines, returned all four with boundaries at 70, 100, 170 and 200. None of the prompts supplied the words Home or Away to the fetch before it produced them. Had the first fetch been trusted, this release would have been filed with no tier file and a false claim that its two versions are unnamed. The names are independently corroborated off-lineage by eBay's card catalogue, which titles card 36 '- Home' and card 109 '- Away'. Sources: https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball/ ; https://www.ebay.com/p/13056544742 ; https://www.ebay.de/itm/267384178199
- G-017 Autographed Prime Rookies card count is contested and 28 was written. checklistcenter.com states 'Auto Prime Rookie Black and White: 28 Cards - Serial Numbered #/99 (*No Hart)' and the same for the Color half, over cards 332-360, which is 29 numbers less Josh Hart. sportscardchecklist.com independently states 27 Cards for both. tcdb catalogues no sid for either parent, but its Tags parallels of both (sids 293977 and 293978) each state Total Cards 28 and each paginate to three gallery pages of 10, 10 and 8, which is 28 and sides with checklistcenter. 28 was written on the strength of two sources against one; the identity of the disputed card was not established and no card-level row was invented. Sources: https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball/ ; https://www.sportscardchecklist.com/sport-basketball/year-2017-18/index-panini-noir/trading-card-checklists-and-product-information ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/293977/x
- G-018 One uncorrected-error row is recorded rather than dropped. tcdb's Jumbo Materials set (sid 181202) carries a UER flag on its Udonis Haslem row with the note that the card number should be 'JM-UH'. The same note appears on the Jumbo Materials Prime page (sid 181204). No card-level rows were written for either set in this pass -- insert and autograph checklists are a separate pass under CHASE_CHECKLIST_SPEC -- so the erratum is recorded here so that pass does not silently normalise the number. The affected card is an insert, not a base card, so the integer-card-number constraint is not engaged. Sources: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/181202/x ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/181204/x
- G-019 Auto Noir has no Black and White counterpart in 2017-18, which differs from the sibling season, and the absence rests on absence rather than on a positive statement. tcdb lists only 'Auto Noir Color' (sid 181186) and 'Auto Noir Color Gold' (181187) under its Insert Sets heading; checklistcenter.com lists only 'Auto Noir Color: 50 Cards - Serial Numbered #/99'; sportscardchecklist.com lists only 'Auto Noir Color (50 Cards)' and 'Auto Noir Color Gold (50 Cards)'. noir-bkb-2018-19 by contrast carries BOTH an Auto Noir Black And White and an Auto Noir Color at 28 cards each. Three catalogues agreeing on an absence is not a statement that the set does not exist, and no row was written for one. Sources: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir ; https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-noir-basketball/ ; https://www.sportscardchecklist.com/sport-basketball/year-2017-18/index-panini-noir/trading-card-checklists-and-product-information
- G-020 The tcdb Inserts.cfm Notes column for this parent carries NO print-run information at all and the blank-annotation test could not be run, so every print run in this release was established by a per-sid row-level token sweep instead. Measured character for character: all 36 rows of the column carry an image-completion percentage ('32.0% of images added', '0.0% of images added') and nothing else. There are NO blank cells, so a non-blank cell means nothing, which is the Contenders Optic / Chronicles shape in the extraction spec's list rather than the Prizm split shape. Per CAV-036 the FORMAT was checked as well as the semantics and it is neither the Hoops prose form nor the Select bare-token form. Recording this because the spec calls Inserts.cfm the largest single fetch saving available and on this parent it saves nothing. Source: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir
- G-021 Several summarising fetches contradicted themselves inside one response, in the shape the scope memo warns about, and the enumerated lists were used rather than the stated tallies. Instances: the Autographed Prime Color page fetch wrote 'Only one distinct serial-number token appears' and then listed two, SN20 and SN12; the Box Office Memorabilia Prime fetch gave a per-token tally summing to 51 on a 56-row set and named six players for a token it counted as five rows; the Episodic Materials Prime fetch said 20 rows were rendered on a set whose own token counts sum to 19; the Icons Memorabilia fetch said 'One row carries no serial token' and in the same sentence that all cards display serial numbers; one Platinum gallery fetch reported 12 total pages where page 20 renders. In every case the DISTINCT TOKEN SET, which is what the print-run decision turns on, was taken from the enumerated list and no fetch's own arithmetic was used as evidence. Where a count mattered it was confirmed from a second endpoint or from the set's gallery pagination. Source: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/174723/2017-18-Panini-Noir
