- G-001 SECTION 5.2 IDENTITY COLLISION, MEASURED FOR THE LATER opticpremium BUILD. tcdb files "2017-18 Donruss Optic - Premium Box Set" (sid 171625) as a SUBSET under this release's parent (165179), listed in the Parallel Sets section of https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/165179/2017-18-Donruss-Optic with the Notes cell "Serial numbered to 249". It is absent from the season index as a standalone, so ViewAll.cfm will not find it. It maps to the opticpremium line (reference/brands.csv: "Donruss Optic Premium Box Set Basketball") and was deliberately NOT built here and NOT folded into this release's base run or parallels. WHAT WAS MEASURED, so the next agent starts from it rather than from Phase 0 hearsay. (1) SIZE: its own page states "Total Cards: 200" (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171625/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Premium-Box-Set). (2) CHECKLIST: it reproduces this release's base checklist. Cards 1-5 render DeAndre' Bembry, Dennis Schroder, Taurean Prince, Malcolm Delaney, Ersan Ilyasova and cards 69-73 render Julius Randle, Larry Nance Jr., Mario Chalmers, Mike Conley, Marc Gasol - identical to base_cards.csv at those numbers - and Gallery.cfm?PageIndex=20 renders 191-200 as Zach Collins through Markelle Fultz, again identical, each tile flagged "RR, SN249" (https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/171625/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Premium-Box-Set?PageIndex=20&sort=0). Both ends of the run were checked; the interior was not enumerated card by card. (3) PRINT RUN: SN249 on every rendered row. (4) cardboardconnection's own product page states "201-card factory set", "Full base set (200 cards)", "all 150 veterans and 50 Rated Rookie cards", "each is limited to just 249 copies", the autographs are "numbered to just 25 copies apiece", and "Release Date: 04/23/2018" - a date 19 days after this release (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-donruss-optic-basketball-premium-box-set). The Phase 0 quotes were therefore VERIFIED rather than repeated, and the 201st card is the autograph.
- G-002 A SECOND PREMIUM BOX SET SUBSET, ALSO EXCLUDED. "2017-18 Donruss Optic - Rated Rookies Signatures Premium Box Set" (sid 171641) is listed in the INSERT Sets section of the same Inserts.cfm page with the Notes cell "Serial numbered to 25". Its own page states "Total Cards: 10" over card numbers inside the 151-200 range, with AU and SN25 on all 10 rows (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171641/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Rated-Rookies-Signatures-Premium-Box-Set). This answers an open question carried by opticpremium-bkb-2018-19: the 2017-18 Rated Rookies Signatures Premium Box Set EXISTS. It was recorded, not built, and no row for it appears in this release's parallels.csv. It reconciles with cardboardconnection's "1 Rated Rookie Autograph" per box and "numbered to just 25 copies apiece".
- G-003 EIGHT Signature Series TIERS WERE REFUSED A PRINT RUN AND CARRY UNKNOWN/UNKNOWN. Signature Series Blue, Checkerboard, Gold, Gold Vinyl, Green, Pink, Holo and Purple all have a BLANK Inserts.cfm Notes cell - which carries no information in that section, proved by Swishful Thinking Blue - and none of them could be fully enumerated: tcdb delivered 50 of 100, 50 of 100, 50 of 100, 50 of 100, 50 of 99, 30 of 99, 48 of 98 and 81 of 99 rows respectively. The tokens actually observed, uniform across every delivered row, were SN25, SN1, SN10, SN1, SN5, SN25, none and none. Those are SAMPLES, not distinct token sets, and EXTRACTION_SPEC section 3.2 forbids writing a tier-level print run off a sample - measured elsewhere at 6 of 27 tiers variable on 2018-19 Noir. The schema cannot express "serial numbered, run unresolved", so the observed tokens survive only in visual_notes and here. Note the asymmetry with this release's BASE parallels, which are also only partially enumerated but do carry integers: those rest on a SET-LEVEL Notes statement in a section that passes the both-directions test, which these eight do not have. RESOLVING THIS needs Gallery.cfm paging of rows 51-100 of each tier, roughly five fetches per tier.
- G-004 cardboardconnection LISTS A BASE PARALLEL tcdb DOES NOT CARRY. Its parallel list reads "PARALLEL CARDS: Holo, Flash*, Blue Velocity, Checkerboard, Purple, White Sparkle, Orange #/199, ..." (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-donruss-optic-basketball-nba-cards). "Flash" appears nowhere in tcdb's 29-row Parallel Sets section (https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/165179/2017-18-Donruss-Optic) and it carries an asterisk whose footnote was not read. No row was written for it: a base-set-scope parallel may not carry print_run=UNKNOWN, and nothing states a run for it, so writing it would have required inventing one. Everything else in cc's list maps to a tcdb sid, and cc omits tcdb's eight Fast Break tiers, the Premium Box Set, Rated Rookie Shock and Red and Yellow.
- G-005 THREE AUTOGRAPH SETS ARE SERIAL NUMBERED AND sets.csv HAS NOWHERE TO PUT THE FIGURE. Dominator Signatures: 38 rows carrying SN49 on 32, plus SN25 (Hakeem Olajuwon, Emmanuel Mudiay), SN29 (Jason Kidd), SN30 (Kyrie Irving), SN35 (TJ Warren) and SN45 (Dwyane Wade) - a PER-CARD VARIABLE run, and the Inserts.cfm Notes cell "Serial numbered to 49 or less" is a CEILING, which EXTRACTION_SPEC section 2.3 says is not a print run (https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/171491/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Dominator-Signatures?sort=0). Hall Dominator Signatures: SN49 on 27 rows and SN25 on one (Gary Payton), Notes "Serial numbered to 49 or 25" (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171494/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Hall-Dominator-Signatures). Rookie Dominator Signatures: SN49 uniformly on all 30 rows, Notes "Serial numbered to 49" (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171497/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Rookie-Dominator-Signatures). None of the three is a parallel tier, so none can go in parallels.csv, and sets.csv has no print_run column; the figures are recorded in each set's notes in words. NOTE THE DIVERGENCE the spec asks to be recorded: earlier agents on this project wrote the ceiling into print_run and said so in notes (Contenders Ticket Stub 77, Season Ticket Stub 50, Elite Red 99); this build writes no figure at all. Same evidence shape, opposite treatment.
- G-006 TWO SET COUNTS REST ON A tcdb HEADER ALONE. Fast Break Signatures states "Total Cards: 100" but delivered only 50 rows (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171500/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Fast-Break-Signatures), and Signature Series states "Total Cards: 96" but delivered only 48, reaching card 87 (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171642/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Signature-Series). Neither header was corroborated by an enumeration, and a tcdb header has been measured counting five different things. Separately, Signature Series' own parallel pages state 100 (Black, Blue, Checkerboard, Gold, Gold Vinyl), 99 (Green, Pink, Purple) and 98 (Holo) - four different totals across nine tiers of one set, none of them 96. Whether the base page is short, the parallels are wider, or the headers are stale is unresolved; sets.csv carries 96 because that is the set's own page.
- G-007 A FETCH ARITHMETIC SELF-CONTRADICTION LEFT ONE COUNT UNSETTLED. The Rated Rookies Signatures page states "Total Cards: 50" over card numbers 151-200 - a 50-number range - while the same fetch reported "51 rows rendered" (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171628/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Rated-Rookies-Signatures). 50 was written because it is both the header and the width of the enumerated range. Whether a number is genuinely rendered twice, which would be a real duplicate rather than a miscount, was not resolved and needs a row-by-row read.
- G-008 A PARALLEL ROSTER IS LARGER THAN ITS BASE SET. Dominator Signatures renders 38 rows against a header of 38, with 37 and 39 unissued; its Gold parallel states "Total Cards: 39" and delivered 40 rows (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171492/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Dominator-Signatures-Gold), and its Gold Vinyl states 39 and delivered 39. Three numbers for one roster. parallels.csv has no count column so nothing false was written, but a later chase pass should not assume the parallel checklists match the base set card for card.
- G-009 EVERY BASE-SET PRINT RUN RESTS ON A SET-LEVEL STATEMENT PLUS PARTIAL ROW COVERAGE, NOT ON A COMPLETE DISTINCT-TOKEN ENUMERATION. Each of the 200-card base parallels delivered between 50 and 85 of its 200 rows through the fetch layer, so the tail of every one is unenumerated. The integers written come from the Inserts.cfm Notes cell, which on THIS parent's Parallel Sets section passes the both-directions split test (annotated sid 171627 renders SN99; blank sid 171603 renders no token on two differently-varied fetches), and 13 of them are independently stated by cardboardconnection and 5 by DA Card World. The residual risk is CAV-036's third shape: prose that is true of only part of its own set, which only a full enumeration catches. It is a smaller risk here than on Chronicles because this base run is a single undivided 1-200 rather than several blocks under one colour sid, but it is not zero. Closing it needs 15 Gallery.cfm pages per tier across 22 numbered tiers.
- G-010 THE CHANNEL ENUM CANNOT EXPRESS RETAILER-LEVEL EXCLUSIVITY, AND TWO ROWS NEEDED IT. tcdb annotates Rated Rookie Shock "Available exclusively in Target Mega-Boxes" and Red and Yellow "Wal-Mart exclusive" (https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/165179/2017-18-Donruss-Optic). reference/channel_taxonomy.csv puts mega on the box-sku axis and states it is NOT a kind of retail, so Rated Rookie Shock was written channel=mega with the retailer carried in channel_sku as "Target Mega-Box". Red and Yellow has no box type at all, only a retailer, and the enum has no Wal-Mart value and no general retailer-deal value other than fanatics-exclusive; it was written channel=retail, which is the weakest claim the quote entails, with "Wal-Mart" in channel_sku. Both rows therefore under-state what the source says, in the direction the taxonomy allows.
- G-011 ELEVEN BASE TIERS CARRY channel=UNKNOWN BECAUSE THE ONLY CHANNEL STATEMENT DOES NOT NAME THEM. cardboardconnection says "There are also quite a few 2017-18 Donruss Optic Basketball retail exclusives as far as Prizm parallels only found in Blaster, Hanger and the main Retail boxes" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-donruss-optic-basketball-nba-cards) without naming which tiers. Aqua, Black, Black Velocity, Checkerboard, Lime Green, Orange, Pink, Pink Velocity, Purple, Red and White Sparkle were therefore left channel=UNKNOWN with an EMPTY channel_basis rather than being assigned retail from a statement that does not cover them. Note also that "Blaster" and "Hanger" are box-sku values with no enum entry at all.
- G-012 THE INSERT-SCOPE Fast Break TIERS CARRY NO CHANNEL, THOUGH THE BASE ONES DO. DA Card World's Fast Break box page states "Find eight different exclusive parallels numbered as low as one-of-one!" and tcdb lists exactly eight Fast Break tiers in the Parallel Sets section, so the eight BASE Fast Break rows were written channel=fast-break on a sourced-exclusive basis (https://www.dacardworld.com/sports-cards/2017-18-panini-donruss-optic-fast-break-basketball-box). No 2017-18 source says the same of the nine insert-scope tiers whose names begin "Fast Break" (Fast Break Holo on six insert sets, plus Rated Rookies Signatures Fast Break, Fast Break Black and Fast Break Pink), so those carry channel=UNKNOWN with an empty basis. The tier name alone would only support channel_basis=from-name, and this build declined to write a channel on that basis. The 2018-19 sibling DOES carry fast-break on its equivalent insert tiers, sourced to a box-copy quote listing the insert sets by name; no 2017-18 equivalent of that quote was found on the two Fast Break box pages read.
- G-013 NO VARIATION SET WAS LOOKED FOR SUCCESSFULLY, AND Errors.cfm CANNOT SETTLE IT. https://www.tcdb.com/Errors.cfm/sid/165179/2017-18-Donruss-Optic renders a page explicitly headed "Errors / Variations" containing no rows, with the message "No errors or variations have been added for this set yet." Per reference/caveats.csv CAV-020 that silence is uninformative: the endpoint returns the identical string on sets that provably have errata. WHAT SURVIVES INDEPENDENTLY: base_set_size=200, the contiguity of 1-200, and the absence of any numbered block past the base run, because those rest on the enumeration recorded in release.csv and on Gallery.cfm?PageIndex=21 rendering no tiles. WHAT IS NOT ESTABLISHED: that no photo or image variation set exists. A variation renders as b-suffixed rows which a base-run enumeration is not designed to surface, and Gallery.cfm strips the b suffix, so this is unsupported rather than disproved.
- G-014 2017-18 IS NOT THIS LINE'S FLOOR. cardboardconnection carries a 2016-17 Donruss Optic Basketball product page (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2016-17-donruss-optic-basketball-cards), surfaced by a site-scoped search while looking for this season's page. The corpus currently holds optic-bkb-2018-19 through optic-bkb-2024-25 and this build adds 2017-18, so a 2016-17 release sits below the new floor. The 2017-18 scope memo settles floors for six other lines and says nothing about optic. The page was not opened and nothing about its contents is claimed here beyond its existence.
- G-015 EXCH ROWS ARE PRESENT AND WERE RECORDED, NOT DROPPED. tcdb renders EXCH on one row of Fast Break Signatures (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171500/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Fast-Break-Signatures), one row of Fast Break Signatures Gold (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171501/2017-18-Donruss-Optic) and one row of Rookie Dominator Signatures Gold, named as Tony Bradley (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171498/2017-18-Donruss-Optic). These are exchange or redemption cards and convert an unresolved placeholder into evidenced absence for the later chase pass.
- G-016 A BARE ORDINAL SITS AMONG LETTER CODES ON ONE AUTOGRAPH SET. Fast Break Signatures renders card numbers of the form FB-TBL, FB-AIV and FB-ISH together with at least one bare "1" attached to Kobe Bryant (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171500/2017-18-Donruss-Optic-Fast-Break-Signatures). That is the documented mixed-code-and-placeholder shape. Nothing was written from it here - this build writes no insert_cards.csv - but the chase pass should expect it and should not read the bare ordinal as a printed number.
- G-017 THE TWO BASE TIERS CARRY print_run=UNKNOWN BECAUSE THE EVIDENCE SUPPORTS THE RANGE ONLY. tcdb's "RR, RC" flags and cardboardconnection's "all 150 veterans and 50 Rated Rookie cards" establish WHERE the split falls; no source states a print run for either tier, and the base cards are unnumbered on the assumed basis at release level. The tiers exist to carry the split and to give the two block-scope parallels (Rated Rookie Shock, Red and Yellow) something to resolve against.
- G-018 SIBLING-RELEASE DEFECTS OBSERVED WHILE CALIBRATING, NOT REPAIRED FROM HERE. (1) reference/caveats.csv CAV-038: optic-bkb-2018-19 carries 35 rows whose channel_confidence is "high" or "medium", values the column's vocabulary does not contain and the database does not police. This release writes multi, single or empty throughout. (2) CAV-039: eight rows of optic-bkb-2018-19 carry a hand-written parallel_family that family_of() does not reproduce - Holo Prizm, Black Prizm, Blue Prizm, Gold Prizm, Lime Green Prizm, Orange Prizm, Pink Prizm and Purple Prizm, filed "Holo" and "other" where the derivation returns "Prizm (plain)". Neither was touched. Related naming finding: tcdb names the 2018-19 base tiers "Holo Prizm" and "Black Prizm" but names the 2017-18 equivalents bare - "Holo", "Black" - so the CAV-039 collision does not arise in this release at all, and a resolver matching tier names across these two adjacent seasons will miss.
- G-019 NO PACK ODDS WERE FOUND FOR ANY SET. scarcity_tier, stated_odds, odds_evidence_url and odds_evidence_quote are empty on all 16 sets.csv rows and on all 135 parallels.csv rows. cardboardconnection, DA Card World and Steel City Collectibles all give box configurations but no per-set insertion odds, and no sell sheet was located. The sibling optic-bkb-2018-19 is empty on the same columns, so this is a line-wide hole rather than a regression.
- G-020 ONE UNRESOLVED ROW-COUNT ODDITY WORTH A SECOND LOOK. The Signature Series Purple fetch reported 81 rendered rows running 1-81 and added that card 14 was skipped in the numbering (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/171651/2017-18-Donruss-Optic). That could be an unissued number in the Signature Series run, a dropped row, or a fetch artifact; it was not re-checked and nothing was written from it. It matters only for the chase pass, since parallels.csv carries no card list.
