- G-001 SECTION 5.3 EXCLUSION, recorded so a consumer can see which convention this release is under. The parent checklist renders 148 cards; base_set_size is written as 100 and the 48-card block at 101-149 is filed as two sets.csv rows (Rookie Autographs, Rookie Patch Autographs) instead. This AGREES with opulence-bkb-2018-19, which sets base_set_size=100 against a parent Total Cards of 150 and files its 101-125 and 126-150 blocks as sets. It DISAGREES with contenders-bkb-2019-20 and contenders-bkb-2021-22, which include their autograph blocks in base_set_size - the divergence EXTRACTION_SPEC section 5.3 names and does not resolve. Nothing in either release row tells a reader which convention it is under. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/176370/2017-18-Panini-Opulence?PageIndex=2
- G-002 CARD 111 IS UNISSUED and this is an evidenced absence, not a coverage hole. The Rookie Autographs block runs 101-125 and renders 24 rows: Checklist.cfm?PageIndex=2 goes 110 then 112, and Gallery.cfm?PageIndex=12 (cache-busted with &sort=0) begins at 112 with no tile numbered 111. The three colour parallels that cover the block (Silver, Holo Gold, Platinum, all Total Cards 148) skip 111 identically, and the parent header of 148 reconciles exactly as 100 base + 48 issued block numbers. SECTION 5.5 MIRROR CHECKED: the 2018-19 parent sid 204548 was examined for a "2017-18 Panini Opulence Update" block and carries none, so 111 is not displaced into the next season. Errors.cfm on the parent returns "No errors or variations have been added for this set yet." and per CAV-020 that silence is cited as nothing at all - the conclusion rests on the contiguous enumeration. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/176370/2017-18-Panini-Opulence?PageIndex=2 ; https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/176370/2017-18-Panini-Opulence?PageIndex=12&sort=0 ; https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/204548/2018-19-Panini-Opulence
- G-003 ELEVEN OF THIRTY-FIVE PARALLEL ROWS (31%) CARRY A PER-CARD VARIABLE PRINT RUN AND ARE WRITTEN UNKNOWN/UNKNOWN BECAUSE THE SCHEMA CANNOT SAY "SERIAL NUMBERED, RUN VARIES". Every one of these tiers is PROVABLY serial numbered - every row carries an SN token - and the rows disagree with one another, so no integer is writable and the modal token was NOT written. Full censuses, each from a complete row-level enumeration of the tier, never a sample: Championship Hall Signatures Silver (sid 185405, 24 rows) SN25 x22, SN15 x2. Gold Records Signatures Silver (185410, 23) SN25 x22, SN15 x1. Golden Autographed Memorabilia Holo Gold (185412, 36) SN10 x35, SN5 x1. Golden Autographed Memorabilia Silver (185414, 33) SN25 x25, SN15 x5, SN24 x1, SN12 x1, SN5 x1. Identifying Ink Silver (185419, 25) SN25 x24, SN15 x1. Opulent Autographs Silver (185425, 50) SN25 x49, SN15 x1. Precious Swatch Signatures Holo Gold (185431, 34) SN10 x33, SN4 x1. Precious Swatch Signatures Silver (185433, 27) SN25 x16, SN15 x10, SN14 x1. Rookie Patch Autographs Booklets Brand Logo (185436, 20) SN5 x19, SN4 x1. Rookie Patch Autographs Booklets Nameplate (185437, 19) SN7 x6, SN5 x5, SN8 x3, SN9 x2, SN4 x2, SN3 x1. Rookie Patch Autographs Booklets Sponsor Logo (185438, 8) SN5 x7, SN4 x1. A three-row sample would have written a flat integer for nine of these eleven. This is the EXTRACTION_SPEC section 2.3 expressiveness gap, not missing research. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/185414/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Golden-Autographed-Memorabilia-Silver ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/185437/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Rookie-Patch-Autographs-Booklets-Nameplate ; https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/176370/2017-18-Panini-Opulence
- G-004 SET-LEVEL PRINT RUNS CANNOT BE HELD IN sets.csv (EXTRACTION_SPEC section 2.2 - there is no print_run column and card_count must not be used for one), so they are recorded here as well as in each row's notes. FLAT, every row of the set carrying one token: Rookie Autographs /79 (24 rows SN79), Rookie Patch Autographs /79 (24 rows SN79), Gold Metal Autographs /20 (16 rows SN20), Golden Ink /20 (39 rows SN20, confirmed on two endpoints), Rookie Octo Booklet /10 (1 row SN10), Rookie Patch Autographs Booklets /25 (20 rows SN25), Vintage Gold Signatures /20 (40 rows SN20, confirmed on two endpoints). PER-CARD VARIABLE, no integer writable: Championship Hall Signatures (SN35 x14, SN49 x9, SN25 x1), Gold Records Signatures (SN35 x14, SN49 x9, SN25 x6), Golden Autographed Memorabilia (SN49 x29, SN25 x9), Identifying Ink (SN35 x25, SN25 x4), NBA Finals Booklet (SN26 x5, SN25 x3, SN24 x2, SN22 x2, SN21 x2, SN20 x2, SN19 x2, SN18 x2 - eight distinct tokens over 20 cards), Opulent Autographs (SN49 x36, SN35 x14), Opulent Scripts (SN35 x37, SN25 x3), Precious Swatch Signatures (SN25 x18, SN49 x16). Each census is a complete enumeration of that set's rows. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/176370/2017-18-Panini-Opulence ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/185420/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-NBA-Finals-Booklet ; https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-nba-cards ; https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-card-checklist/
- G-005 SOURCE CONTRADICTION, RECORDED NOT RESOLVED IN checklistcenter'S FAVOUR. checklistcenter states "Identifying Ink Set: 29 Cards - Serial Numbered #/75 or as Noted". NO row of tcdb sid 185416 renders SN75; the complete 29-row enumeration is SN35 on 25 rows and SN25 on 4 (II-AIV Allen Iverson, II-CBK Charles Barkley, II-KIV Kyrie Irving, II-MJS Magic Johnson), and the highest token present anywhere in the set is SN35. The two sites agree on the COUNT (29). cardboardconnection gives the count and states no print run for this set, so it neither supports nor refutes the 75. The figure is not written in either direction; the tier is UNKNOWN/variable. This is a second instance on 2017-18 of an unhedged-looking editorial figure being refuted by a row-level enumeration. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/185416/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Identifying-Ink ; https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-card-checklist/ ; https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-nba-cards
- G-006 FOUR EDITORIAL CEILINGS WERE REFUSED AS PRINT RUNS AND ALL FOUR WERE CORRECT TO REFUSE. checklistcenter writes "#/35 or as Noted" for Championship Hall Signatures, "#/49 or as Noted" for Golden Autographed Memorabilia and for Opulent Autographs, "#/35 or as Noted" for Opulent Scripts, "#/25 or as Noted" for three Silver tiers and "#/5 or as Noted" for Rookie Patch Auto Book Sponsor Logo. A ceiling is not a print run, so none was written; a complete row-level enumeration of each then found every one of them genuinely variable (see the tier-token-enumeration gap). Recording the divergence from the older catalogue convention that wrote the ceiling and gapped it (Contenders Ticket Stub 77, Season Ticket Stub 50, Elite Red/Aspirations/Status 99): this release writes UNKNOWN and gaps it, per EXTRACTION_SPEC section 2.3. Evidence: https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-card-checklist/ ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/185402/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Championship-Hall-Signatures
- G-007 MODELLING DECISION, RECORDED BECAUSE A SOURCE COULD BE READ THE OTHER WAY. tcdb files Silver (sid 185401), Holo Gold (185399) and Platinum (185400) as single sids of Total Cards 148, spanning the 100-card base run AND the 101-149 autograph blocks; Emerald (185398) is Total Cards 100 and stops at the base run. cardboardconnection and checklistcenter both list all four purely as base-set parallels and say nothing about the blocks. Because the blocks are excluded from base_set_size under section 5.3, each of the three wider sids is written as THREE rows - one base-set-scope row plus set-scope rows for Rookie Autographs and Rookie Patch Autographs - so that no row claims a scope wider than base_set_size. The alternative reading (one base-set row of 148 cards) would contradict base_set_size. The print run is the same integer in all three scopes of each colour, so nothing is asserted beyond what the sid renders. Consequence a consumer should know: this release has six more parallel rows than a base-only reading would give, and "Silver", "Holo Gold" and "Platinum" each appear in several scopes. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/185401/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Silver ; https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/185401/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Silver?PageIndex=2 ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/185398/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Emerald ; https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-nba-cards ; https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-card-checklist/
- G-008 PARALLEL ROSTERS ARE SMALLER THAN THEIR BASE SETS ON EIGHT TIERS, so a consumer must not assume a colour tier reproduces its set. Measured off each tier's own Total Cards and its rendered rows: Gold Records Signatures 29 but its Silver 23; Golden Autographed Memorabilia 38 but its Holo Gold 36 and its Silver 33; Identifying Ink 29 but its Silver 25; Opulent Autographs 50 but its Holo Gold 49 and its Platinum 49 (OA-BIG Brandon Ingram absent from both); Opulent Scripts 40 but its Silver 37; Precious Swatch Signatures 34 but its Silver 27; Rookie Patch Autographs Booklets 20 but its Nameplate 19 and its Sponsor Logo 8. checklistcenter independently prints the same figures for the five Silver/Nameplate/Sponsor Logo tiers it lists (23, 33, 25, 27, 19, 8), matching tcdb exactly. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/176370/2017-18-Panini-Opulence ; https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-card-checklist/
- G-009 CHANNEL IS UNKNOWN ON ALL 35 PARALLEL ROWS AND channel_basis IS EMPTY ON ALL 35. No source consulted states a trade channel for this product or claims exclusivity for any tier. cardboardconnection describes the configuration only as "includes seven autographs or relics per box" and names no channel; checklistcenter names none; tcdb renders none. Per EXTRACTION_SPEC section 2.3 a declined channel takes an EMPTY basis, not "unsupported". Note this is the same result opulence-bkb-2018-19 reached on 53 of its 54 rows, and that release had one exception this one does not: its Ruby tier is printed "Ruby FOTL" by two editorial sources. There is no FOTL tier in 2017-18. Evidence: https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-nba-cards ; https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-card-checklist/ ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/176370/2017-18-Panini-Opulence
- G-010 ROOKIE FLAG IS UNKNOWN ON ALL 100 BASE CARDS. tcdb renders "RC" on every row of the 101-149 autograph block and on NO row of the base run 1-100, which is a discriminative signal in the same renderer - but it is tcdb's own cataloguing convention rather than a source stating that card 1 Markelle Fultz or card 17 Lonzo Ball is not an RC, and the flag column is documented as lossy in both directions. Corroborating that lossiness inside this release: the Silver, Holo Gold and Platinum sids render the 101-149 rows as "AU, SN25"/"AU, SN10"/"AU, SN1" with NO "RC" token at all, while the parent sid renders "AU, RC, SN79" on the same cards. Neither cardboardconnection nor checklistcenter marks rookies in its base list. Writing "no" would assert a fact about a rookie-year card that no source states; UNKNOWN is written instead. This matches opulence-bkb-2018-19, which is UNKNOWN on all 100. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/176370/2017-18-Panini-Opulence?PageIndex=2 ; https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/185401/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Silver?PageIndex=2 ; https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-nba-cards
- G-011 THE Inserts.cfm NOTES COLUMN ON THIS PARENT CARRIES IMAGE-COMPLETION PERCENTAGES AND THEREFORE ZERO PRINT-RUN INFORMATION - a fifth measured instance of CAV-036. All 42 rows were read asking for the cell text character for character: 41 read like "4.2% of images added" and exactly one (Rookie Octo Booklet, sid 185434) is EMPTY. There are no serial statements in any format, prose or bare token, anywhere in the column, and there is exactly one blank cell - so the blank-annotation split test CANNOT BE RUN on this parent and must not be reported as run and passed. Consequence: every print run in this release was taken from a row-level enumeration of the tier itself, at a cost of about 45 fetches, and the Prizm-shape saving the spec describes was not available. Separately: no tier in this release is written "unnumbered", because every row of every tier rendered an SN token, so no absence-of-token conclusion was drawn anywhere. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/176370/2017-18-Panini-Opulence ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/185434/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Rookie-Octo-Booklet
- G-012 SET-NAME DIVERGENCES RECORDED, NOT RESOLVED. (1) "Gold Metal Autographs": tcdb sid 185406 and cardboardconnection both print "Metal"; checklistcenter prints "Gold Medal Auto Set"; and the already-built opulence-bkb-2018-19 in this corpus carries "Gold Medal Autographs". The two-source "Metal" form is written here, so a resolver matching set names across the two seasons of this line will MISS. (2) "Precious Swatch Signatures" (tcdb, cardboardconnection) against checklistcenter's "Precious Swatches Signatures". (3) cardboardconnection writes "Rookie Octo Booklet Autograph" where tcdb writes "Rookie Octo Booklet". In each case tcdb's form is written because it is the structural source. No set was renamed away from a source. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/185406/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Gold-Metal-Autographs ; https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-nba-cards ; https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-card-checklist/
- G-013 FOR THE LATER CHASE PASS, recorded here because this pass does not write insert_cards.csv. tcdb stores placeholder tokens in the card-number column of several sets in this release: the literal string "TBD" on two rows of Gold Metal Autographs (Chris Paul, Harrison Barnes), on one row of Rookie Patch Autographs Booklets and its Brand Logo and Nameplate parallels (Malik Monk), and BARE ORDINALS mixed in with real letter codes on Gold Records Signatures (26 Ben Wallace, 9 Marc Gasol), Golden Autographed Memorabilia (23 Rodney Hood, 8 Jeff Teague), Golden Ink (17, 31, 32, 34), Opulent Scripts (10, 15, 33), Precious Swatch Signatures (11 Marc Gasol) and Vintage Gold Signatures (16 Sam Jones). Per the chase spec a page mixing real codes and bare ordinals is the good case - one real code settles the scheme - so the coded rows are writable and the ordinals are not. The Malik Monk rows are additionally flagged "EXCH" ("TBD | Malik Monk | AU, MEM, SN25, EXCH"), which converts that unresolved number from an unexplained placeholder into an evidenced redemption card. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/185435/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Rookie-Patch-Autographs-Booklets ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/185406/2017-18-Panini-Opulence-Gold-Metal-Autographs
- G-014 THIS RELEASE SITS BELOW THE LINE'S EXISTING FLOOR. The corpus held opulence-bkb-2018-19 and opulence-bkb-2019-20 only; 2017-18 is the DEBUT, per cardboardconnection's "2017-18 Panini Opulence Basketball debuts as a luxury release", and Opulence is absent from tcdb's 2016-17 index, so there is nothing beneath this release to chase and the line floor is now settled at 2017-18. Recording the reversals against the later seasons so nobody inherits across the boundary: base print run 79 here against 39 in both 2018-19 and 2019-20; base parallel ladder Silver/Holo Gold/Emerald/Platinum here against Gold/Holo Gold/Emerald/Ruby/Platinum in 2018-19 (no Gold and no Ruby in 2017-18; no Silver in 2018-19); and only seven of this release's fifteen non-base set names survive byte-identical into 2018-19 - Rookie Autographs, Rookie Patch Autographs, Golden Autographed Memorabilia, NBA Finals Booklet, Opulent Autographs, Opulent Scripts and Precious Swatch Signatures - while the other eight disappear or are renamed. Evidence: https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-nba-cards ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/176370/2017-18-Panini-Opulence ; https://www.tcdb.com/ViewAll.cfm/sp/Basketball/year/2016
- G-015 SOURCE BASE AND ITS LIMITS. Three sources were reachable: tcdb (structural - sids, rosters, serial tokens), cardboardconnection and checklistcenter (counts and print runs). beckett.com was tried on its own 2017-18 Opulence article URL and 302s to maintenance.beckett.com, re-confirming the 2017-18 scope memo. cardboardconnection and checklistcenter are plausibly ONE LINEAGE (CAV-037) and must not be counted as two independent sources; where a value rests on them alone it is marked single. They are NOT interchangeable here and each carries something the other lacks: checklistcenter lists ten parallel sub-sets with exact counts that cardboardconnection never mentions, while cardboardconnection carries the debut statement and the per-box configuration. CALIBRATION RESULT: cardboardconnection and tcdb agree on the card_count of all 15 non-base sets, 15 for 15, including the two blocks that have no sid. That is a strong pass and is why cardboardconnection was trusted on the base-set figure. Marketplace corroboration was tested and holds on this release: an eBay free-text seller title reads "2017-18 Panini Opulence #34 Brandon Ingram LAKERS /79" with no tcdb flag string anywhere on the page. Sources: https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-nba-cards ; https://www.checklistcenter.com/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball-card-checklist/ ; https://www.beckett.com/news/2017-18-panini-opulence-basketball/ ; https://www.ebay.com/itm/315723990916
- G-016 DERIVED COLUMNS FILLED BY LIFTING THE MAPS OUT OF pipeline/fix_schema.py BY AST (CAV-034), not by running it. channel_class is "unknown" on all 35 rows because channel is UNKNOWN on all 35. parallel_family resolves to Holo (Holo Gold), Platinum, Emerald and "other" (Silver, Logoman, Brand Logo, Nameplate, Sponsor Logo). NO NEW FAMILY WAS MINTED. Flagging for the taxonomy question in CAV-021 rather than acting on it: "Silver" falls to "other" while "Platinum" and "Emerald" have families of their own, so this release's four-colour base ladder is split three ways by a list that happens to contain two of its colours. Adding a Silver family in one release would split existing rows rather than fix them, so it was not done. Evidence: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/176370/2017-18-Panini-Opulence
- G-017 SET TYPE RECORDED EXPLICITLY BECAUSE THE ENUM FORCES A CHOICE. NBA Finals Booklet (sid 185420) and its Logoman parallel (185421) render "MEM" on every row and "AU" on none - they are unsigned memorabilia booklets. EXTRACTION_SPEC section 2.2 has no relic value, so they are filed as insert, not auto. cardboardconnection lists the set with no autograph statement. Note the 2018-19 sibling files its own NBA Finals Booklet as insert too, so the two seasons agree.
