the Base Rookies Variation set

THE VARIATION LAYER HAS ITS OWN COLOUR LADDER, and tcdb files it inside the colour sids rather than giving it sids of its own: within each colour sid the rookie numbers render as an a row and a b row, the b row flagged VAR, carrying the SAME serial token as its a row. sportscardchecklist lists the five tiers as sets in their own right at 40 cards each. The Veteran Throwback layer at numbers 81-100 has NO colour tier in any of the five sids -- every colour sid renders 1-100 as plain single rows and starts its b rows at 101a. See G-017. THIS ROW: the Black tier of the 40-card Base Rookies Variation layer, inside tcdb sid 162996 ("2017-18 Panini Ascension - Black"). Distinct serial-token set enumerated over the WHOLE tier, never sampled, and probed on Checklist.cfm with ViewSet.cfm and Gallery.cfm as second and third differently-varied fetches (EXTRACTION_SPEC section 3.2's direction-neutral rule). All 40 b rows render SN1 and nothing else -- "101b | Markelle Fultz | SN1, VAR" ... "140 | Lonzo Ball | SN1, VAR" -- across https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/162996/2017-18-Panini-Ascension-Black?PageIndex=2 and https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/162996/2017-18-Panini-Ascension-Black?PageIndex=18. sportscardchecklist independently lists "2017-18 Panini Ascension Variation Black (40 Cards)" -- a COUNT, not a run. The 40 cards themselves are confirmed by Errors.cfm on the parent, which returns all forty b tokens with their photo descriptors in one fetch: https://www.tcdb.com/Errors.cfm/sid/159372/2017-18-Panini-Ascension. source_confidence is "single": no source outside tcdb states a print run for the variation layer's colour tiers. cardboardconnection's PARALLEL CARDS lists belong to its Base Set and Base Rookies headings, and a third bare "PARALLEL CARDS: Black 1/1." line on that page could not be attributed to a named set, so it was not used. CHANNEL DELIBERATELY UNKNOWN WITH AN EMPTY BASIS. The only channel evidence that exists for this product is product-level: cardboardconnection says "each hobby box has one signed card to go along with a virtual rainbow of colorful designs." and "Each hobby box is slated to have: 1 Autograph". The words retail, Target, Walmart, blaster, mega and exclusive appear nowhere on that page. Nothing states a channel for THIS tier, and EXTRACTION_SPEC section 2.3 forbids inheriting a product-level note onto tiers it does not cover and forbids channel_basis when the channel is not known. See G-008.
