Box-set reissue: the base checklist is identical, card for card, to 2023-24 Panini Hoops — the same 300 cards printed on premium stock and sold as a complete set.
Base set parallels · not documented
No base-set parallel has a row in the catalogue yet. That is not a claim that none exist — this release's open questions record what is known about its parallels and why it is not yet expressible as a row.

- G-001 EXTRACTION_SPEC 5.2 BASE-CARD IDENTITY COLLISION, naming both releases: hoopspremium-bkb-2023-24 (this release) and paninihoops-bkb-2023-24 describe THE SAME 300 physical cards. This release is the /199 Panini-website Dutch-auction Premium Box Set printing of that checklist; the parent is the pack-issued printing (paninihoops-bkb-2023-24 carries base_print_run=unnumbered, base_print_run_basis=assumed). A source states the repackaging in words rather than leaving it to be inferred: "Led by Victor Wembanyama, the 2023-24 NBA Hoops Premium Box Set Basketball checklist pulls from 2023-24 NBA Hoops to form the 300-card base set." and "This includes all base, rookie and Hoops Tribute cards in the Premium Box Set parallel, numbered to 199 copies." (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards). MEASURED, NOT ESTIMATED, against data/paninihoops-bkb-2023-24/base_cards.csv with csv.DictReader: POSITIONAL overlap (row index against row index, comparing card_number + player_name + team_or_school) = 300 of 300. BY-CARD-NUMBER overlap (keyed on card_number, comparing player_name + team_or_school) = 300 of 300. Zero card numbers appear on only one side; the player_name multiset and the (player_name, team_or_school) multiset are both identical on the two sides; there is not one differing value anywhere in the two files. BOTH FIGURES ARE REPORTED DELIBERATELY, because they can diverge badly and a single figure misleads: the 2020-21 pair of this same line reads 175/270 positionally against 269/270 by card number (270/270 by number after its 3b-to-98 correction, while the positional figure stayed at 175/270), purely because one row is numbered "3b" and shifts every row after it; a marker on that release then wrongly asserted the POSITIONAL figure had moved when only the by-number one had. In 2021-22 and 2022-23 the two measures agreed (296/300 on both in 2022-23) because those runs were clean, and they agree here for the same reason. NOTE the 300/300 is NOT independent corroboration - see G-017. The same physical object is ALSO recorded inside paninihoops-bkb-2023-24 as a base-set-scope parallel row "Premium Box Set" with print_run 199, and its autograph set is carried there as a sets.csv row "Base Hoops Tribute Premium Box Set Autographs". This release IS the separate release record; a resolver pass should decide which side keeps them. This is the fifth consecutive season in which the catalogue answers "its own product".
- G-002 parallels.csv is written with its header and ZERO data rows, which is a finding and not an unfinished file (EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.3). VERIFIED FOR THIS SEASON RATHER THAN ASSUMED FROM THE PRIOR FOUR, AND THE EVIDENCE SHAPE IS DIFFERENT THIS SEASON. EVIDENCE FOR THE ABSENCE: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops enumerates the parent set's complete inventory under the verbatim headings "Insert Sets (95)" and "Parallel Sets (22)". All 22 parallel entries were ENUMERATED in full, not counted from the heading: Artist Proof (397777), Artist Proof Black (397783), Artist Proof Gold (397782), Blue (397763), Blue Explosion (397776), Gravity (397774), Green (397772), Hyper Blue (397764), Hyper Gold (397781), Hyper Green (397778), Hyper Red (397773), Impulse (397765), Neon Green (397766), Orange Explosion (397779), Premium Stock (399149), Purple (397767), Red (397775), Red Backs (397768), Red Explosion (397780), Silver (397771), Teal Explosion (397769), Yellow (397770). There is NO "Premium Box Set" entry at all this season, and therefore no "Premium Box Set Gold", no "Premium Box Set Holo" and no sub-parallel of it of any kind; there is also no entry containing "Tribute" in either section, and the Insert Sets section was separately probed for entries beginning with T and for the words Tribute, Premium and Box, returning only "Hoops Throwback" (397847). The page was read twice under two distinct URLs (plain, and with a harmless extra parameter appended) so the second reading is not a 15-minute cache hit on the first, and both readings returned the identical heading counts. https://www.tcdb.com/ViewAll.cfm/sp/Basketball/year/2023 and .../year/2024 were also read and neither lists a Premium Box Set set of any season. cardboardconnection's product page describes only the /199 base cards and the one /10 Tribute autograph and names no parallel of this product (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards). THE HONEST WEAKNESS THIS SEASON IS BIGGER THAN LAST: in 2022-23 the absence was proved by finding exactly one "Premium" entry with no sub-parallel; here there is no entry for the product at all, so the enumeration proves that tcdb knows of no parallel of it rather than that tcdb catalogues it and shows none, and only ONE product-level source (cardboardconnection) describes the product's contents. No source says in words "this box set has no parallels". One contamination shape was investigated and nothing was written from it - see G-014.
- G-003 EXTRACTION_SPEC 5.4 UNIT CHECK AT RELEASE LEVEL - THE TRAP THIS LINE HAS NOW SPRUNG IN ALL FIVE SEASONS, AND THE GENERAL FORM PREDICTED FOR A FIFTH SEASON HELD EXACTLY. cardboardconnection prints "Product Configuration:** 301-card factory set" on the same page as "300 cards. Serial numbered #/199. Full set per box." and "20 cards. Serial numbered #/10. 1 per box." (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards). 301 is CARDS PER SEALED BOX: the 300-card base set plus the one Hoops Tribute autograph. 301 is therefore written into NO field; base_set_size is 300, sourced from cardboardconnection's "300 cards" and its "pulls from 2023-24 NBA Hoops to form the 300-card base set", corroborated by counting 300 enumerated rows one by one on that page and by the parent set's tcdb Total Cards "300" (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops). The load-bearing strings were re-fetched under narrow enumerated prompts issued at three distinct cache-busted URLs before either was believed (EXTRACTION_SPEC 4.1), and the "Product Configuration" line came back identical each time, including its stray markdown asterisks. RECORD OF HOW THIS TRAP HAS BEHAVED ACROSS THE LINE: 2019-20 = 305 and 303, and those two belonged to a DIFFERENT product (Premium Stock); 2020-21 = 271 beside "Full base set (270 cards)"; 2021-22 = 271 again, same page, same words; 2022-23 = 301 beside "300 cards", with checklistcenter naming the unit outright as "301 Cards Per Box"; 2023-24 = 301 beside "300 cards". base_set_size + 1 holds in five of five seasons. NOTE that the 2022-23 corroborator is GONE this season - checklistcenter has no page for the 2023-24 product (see G-012) - so the unit is established by arithmetic and by the sibling seasons, not by a second source naming it.
- G-004 "NBA HOOPS PREMIUM STOCK" IS A DIFFERENT, ONGOING RETAIL LINE AND NOTHING FROM IT IS MERGED HERE. Nothing in this release derives from a Premium Stock source. THE TEST IS HARDER THIS SEASON THAN IN ANY PRIOR ONE, BECAUSE THE PRODUCT ACTUALLY EXISTS IN 2023-24 WHERE IT DID NOT IN 2020-21, 2021-22 OR 2022-23: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewAll.cfm/sp/Basketball/year/2023 lists "2023-24 Hoops Premium Stock" as its own set at sid 469854, and https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops lists "Premium Stock" (sid 399149) as one of the parent set's 22 parallels. Both were found by ENUMERATION, not only by search: the full 22-entry parallel list was transcribed twice under two distinct URLs (G-002) and the four 2023-24 "Hoops" entries in the season index were transcribed in full. Neither sid was opened for content and no value in this release comes from either. This agrees with this project's own already-gated data/paninihoops-bkb-2023-24/release.csv, whose notes list "2023-24 NBA Hoops Premium Stock (its own Target-channel product with its own checklist)" among products deliberately excluded. reference/brands.csv still carries no row for a Premium Stock line; that escalation is already open as G-003 on hoopspremium-bkb-2019-20 and is NOT re-decided here.
- G-005 license_status WAS NOT SUPPLIED AS A SOURCED VALUE and the catalogue is inconsistent on it, so the value written here is a convention choice and is recorded as one. EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.1 says license_status comes "as given in your task prompt"; this prompt gave product_name, season, manufacturer and league only, and settled the question by instruction: match this line's own prior seasons and gap it, do not reconcile unilaterally. This release therefore writes "licensed (NBA/NBPA)", matching hoopspremium-bkb-2019-20, -2020-21, -2021-22 and -2022-23 byte for byte. The parent product for the SAME season, data/paninihoops-bkb-2023-24/release.csv, writes "licensed (NBA)" for what is physically the same checklist under the same licence (measured: 300/300 identical - see G-001). WHAT THE SOURCES ACTUALLY SAY: nothing. No source consulted in this pass - cardboardconnection, tcdb sid 388591, the tcdb season indexes for 2023 and 2024 - prints the word "NBPA", the phrase "NBA Players Association", or any licensing statement at all about either product; cardboardconnection was asked directly for any sentence mentioning a licence, the NBA or the NBPA and answered that none is present. The distinction between the two values is not sourced on either side and is a catalogue convention, not a fact either release found. The columns that actually gate the loader (licensed=yes, league=NBA) are unambiguous and identical on both sides. A repair pass should pick one value for the pair hoopspremium/paninihoops per season, or source the difference. This is the fifth consecutive season of this line to record the identical divergence.
- G-006 CHANNEL IS KNOWN AND SOURCED BUT HAS NOWHERE TO LIVE IN THE SCHEMA, so it is recorded here. cardboardconnection: "Boxes are sold on the Panini website via "Ductch Auction" pricing that opens at $2,000 per box and then decreases until it sells out or hits $500 per box." (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards). The misspelling "Ductch" is on the page and is quoted as printed rather than silently repaired. In the taxonomy of EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.3 that is channel=panini-direct with channel_basis=sourced-exclusive and, by the derived map, channel_class=promotion. release.csv has no channel column and parallels.csv has no rows, so NO machine-readable channel value exists anywhere in this release and a consumer filtering by channel will not find it. Identical disposition to hoopspremium-bkb-2020-21 G-007, hoopspremium-bkb-2021-22 G-006 and hoopspremium-bkb-2022-23 G-006 - the FIFTH consecutive season of this line where a fully sourced channel is unrepresentable. The parent release records the mirror-image problem from the other side: data/paninihoops-bkb-2023-24/parallels.csv writes channel=UNKNOWN with an empty channel_basis on its "Premium Box Set" row and says in visual_notes "no source states its retail channel" - which THIS release now has a source for, so a repair pass could fill that row from the quote above.
- G-007 A NON-INTEGER CARD NUMBER IS PRESENT IN THIS SEASON OF THIS LINE, AS IT WAS IN 2020-21 AND WAS NOT IN 2021-22 OR 2022-23. tcdb's rendering of the parent set sid 388591 contains NO card 208 and contains TWO rows numbered 209: "209 | Jose Alvarado | | New Orleans Pelicans" followed by "209b | Malik Beasley | UER | Milwaukee Bucks" (https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=3, and re-read under a cache-busted URL which returned the number and flag quoted as "209b" and "UER" and answered that 208 is "Not present on this page"). tcdb states the reason in words in its own set note, read under two distinct URLs: "Distributed in one series (#1-300). Set contains two #209 due to a printing error on #208." (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops). "UER" is recorded as the literal flag token it is; no gloss for it was accepted from the fetch layer (see G-018). THE SLOT AND THE PRINTED NUMBER ARE DIFFERENT FACTS AND ONLY THE SLOT FITS THE COLUMN: migrations/002_core_entities.sql declares cards.card_number INTEGER NOT NULL. base_cards.csv carries 208 for Malik Beasley, Milwaukee Bucks. UNLIKE 2020-21, WHERE THE SLOT HAD TO BE RECOVERED FROM OTHER CATALOGUES AGAINST tcdb's "3b", THE SLOT HERE IS WHAT THIS RELEASE'S OWN SOURCE PRINTS: cardboardconnection renders "208 | Malik Beasley | Milwaukee Bucks" and "209 | Jose Alvarado | New Orleans Pelicans" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards), tcdb's own note names 208 as the card the printing error was made on, and data/paninihoops-bkb-2023-24/base_cards.csv carries 208 Malik Beasley Milwaukee Bucks for the identical physical card. A dated CORRECTED marker in release.csv notes carries the printed number verbatim. RESIDUAL UNCERTAINTY, STATED RATHER THAN HIDDEN: the misprint is documented on the PARENT printing. No source read in this pass states whether the Premium Box Set printing of card 208 reproduces the same misprint or corrects it, and this product has no renderer of its own this season (G-012), so whether the /199 card physically reads 208 or 209 is unresolved. The value written is the slot either way.
- G-008 rookie_flag RESTS ON THE PARENT SET, NOT ON THIS PRODUCT'S OWN SOURCE - with a positive control and COMPLETE coverage of all 300 numbers. This product's own source prints no rookie designation at all: every one of the ten enumerated 30-card asks against cardboardconnection's base checklist was asked whether any flag such as RC appears and every one answered that none does (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards). A source that never prints RC cannot be read as saying a card is not a rookie, so rookie_flag was read off the PARENT set sid 388591 for the identical card numbers. POSITIVE CONTROL RUN FIRST, because "no RC found" is worthless if the renderer never prints RC: https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=24 was fetched and DOES render it, verbatim "231 - Toumani Camara - Phoenix Suns" with an "RC" flag and "240 - James Nnaji - Charlotte Hornets" with an "RC" flag, on all ten tiles 231-240. COVERAGE ACTUALLY OBSERVED ON THE PARENT, number by number: 1-20 via https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=1 (RC absent); 21-50 and 51-73 via two cache-busted asks on the same page (RC absent); 71-100 via https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=8, 9 and 10, ten tiles each, all three answering RC absent; 101-140 and 141-180 via https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=2 under two distinct URLs (RC absent); 181-190 and 191-200 via https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=19 and 20, ten tiles each (RC absent); 201-273 via https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=3, which renders RC beginning at 231 and quotes "231 | Toumani Camara | RC | Phoenix Suns" through "272 | Brandon Miller | RC | Charlotte Hornets", so 201-230 are positively observed WITHOUT RC on the same page that carries it; 271-280 via https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=28, ten of ten tiles flagged RC including "277 - Victor Wembanyama - San Antonio Spurs"; 281-290 and 291-300 via https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=29 and 30, both answering RC absent and both flagging all ten tiles "HT" instead. Every one of the 300 numbers is covered by at least one endpoint and no range rests on block structure alone. rookie_flag=yes is written for 231-280 and no elsewhere. CORROBORATION: cardboardconnection prints a section heading "Rookies" between card 230 and card 231 in its base checklist; data/paninihoops-bkb-2023-24/base_cards.csv independently records rookie_flag=yes for exactly 231-280 and no elsewhere, measured with csv.DictReader, zero disagreements across all 300 cards. RESIDUAL WEAKNESS: for cards 241-270 the RC designation rests on https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=3 summarising the contiguous range 231-273 rather than on 30 individually quoted rows; the range's endpoints were quoted and its tail 271-280 was independently confirmed tile by tile.
- G-009 card_tier IS WRITTEN ON 281-300 ONLY, IT IS SOURCED PARTLY FROM THE PARENT, AND IT DIVERGES FROM THE PARENT RELEASE FILE; all three facts are recorded rather than smoothed. This release writes card_tier="Hoops Tribute" on cards 281-300 and leaves it empty on 1-280. BASIS: the PARENT set renders the literal flag token "HT" on exactly those 20 tiles and on no others - https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=29 renders "281 - Ja Morant - Memphis Grizzlies" through "290 - LeBron James - Los Angeles Lakers" with "HT" on all ten, and https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=30 renders "291 - Nikola Jokic - Denver Nuggets" through "300 - Amen Thompson - Houston Rockets" with "HT" on all ten, while parent pages 8, 9, 10, 19, 20, 24 and 28 render no HT token at all. THE EXPANSION OF THE TOKEN "HT" TO THE WORDS "Hoops Tribute" COMES FROM cardboardconnection, NOT FROM tcdb: "This includes all base, rookie and Hoops Tribute cards in the Premium Box Set parallel" and the section heading "Base Hoops Tribute Premium Box Set Autographs Checklist" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards). The fetch layer offered its own gloss for "HT" and it was rejected - see G-018. DIVERGENCES: (a) data/paninihoops-bkb-2023-24/base_cards.csv leaves card_tier EMPTY on all 300 rows including 281-300, although its release notes describe the same three segments in prose ("#1-230 veterans, #231-280 under the 'Rookies' heading, #281-300 under the 'Hoops Tribute' heading"); (b) the 231-280 rookie block gets no card_tier here, following hoopspremium-bkb-2019-20 G-009, -2020-21 G-010, -2021-22 G-007 and -2022-23 G-007, which all left their rookie block empty for the same reason - even though cardboardconnection DOES print a "Rookies" section heading above card 231, so a uniform repair pass across the line could now fill it with a citation. I did not change the line's convention unilaterally mid-line. The base run is NOT treated as tiered for print-run purposes: it is uniformly /199, so base_print_run is the integer 199 and not varies-by-tier, and base_card_tiers.csv is correctly absent (EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.5).
- G-010 THE AUTOGRAPH SET'S PRINT RUN IS SOURCED BUT UNWRITABLE, AND THE WHOLE SET RESTS ON ONE SOURCE. (1) NOT CATALOGUED BY tcdb: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops, read twice under two distinct URLs, contains no entry whose name includes "Tribute" in either its "Insert Sets (95)" or its "Parallel Sets (22)" section, so there is no row-level reading and no header count for this set. Every season of this line except 2022-23 had a dedicated sid (2019-20 sid 218337; 2021-22 sid 296224). (2) card_count=20 is DISTINCT CARDS and rests on cardboardconnection alone, stated twice on one page - "20 cards. Serial numbered #/10. 1 per box." and "This signed selection consists of 20 top players, including current rookies and stars along with former greats." - and corroborated by counting the rendered rows of that page's "Base Hoops Tribute Premium Box Set Autographs Checklist" section one by one, which yielded twenty rows numbered 281 through 300 (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards). The row count was counted item by item rather than taken from the page's or the fetch's own total (EXTRACTION_SPEC 3.2). (3) THE /10 SERIAL NUMBERING IS SOURCED AND CONSISTENT THIS SEASON - "Serial numbered #/10" and "All the autographs are serial-numbered to just 10." - but sets.csv has no print_run column (EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.2), so it is written in no field and lives in sets.csv notes in words and here. This is the schema expressiveness gap EXTRACTION_SPEC 6 names, recurring for a fifth season on this line. NOTE the contrast with 2022-23, where the numbering was genuinely CONTESTED (cardboardconnection "limited to 10 copies", Panini America "as low as /10", checklistcenter "#/20"); this season there is no contest because there is only one source. (4) data/paninihoops-bkb-2023-24/sets.csv carries the same set with card_count 20 and the note "single-source (cardboardconnection.com only): '20 cards. Serial numbered #/10. Only in Premium Box Set format.' Not listed by checklistcenter.com or cardsmithsbreaks.com" - i.e. the parent release independently reached the same single-source conclusion, which is agreement about the evidence rather than a second source.
- G-011 release_date IS WRITTEN AS UNKNOWN AND THAT DIVERGES FROM THREE OF THE FOUR PRIOR SEASONS OF THIS LINE. The only date any source consulted states is explicitly an ESTIMATE and it is single-source: cardboardconnection's product block prints, as the label reads, "Estimated Release Date: December 28, 2023" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards; re-read under two distinct cache-busted URLs, identical both times, and a narrow ask for the product block returned the label with the word "Estimated" attached). An estimate is a forecast, not a statement that the product released on that day, and EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.1 says release_date is UNKNOWN if unverifiable, so 2023-12-28 is written in no field. NO SECOND SOURCE STATES A DATE AT ALL: checklistcenter returns HTTP 404 for https://www.checklistcenter.com/2023-24-panini-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-card-checklist/ , checklistinsider returns HTTP 404 for https://www.checklistinsider.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set , beckett 302-redirects https://www.beckett.com/basketball/2023-24/hoops-premium-box-set to https://beckett-maintenance-page.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html , Panini America's product page https://www.paniniamerica.net/2023-24-panini-hoops-nba-premium-box-set.html timed out once and on retry delivered only site navigation with none of the product text, and there is no Panini America blog launch post for this season (the search for one returns the 2022-23 post). THE PRODUCT DID RELEASE - marketplace listings for its cards exist (G-013) - so this is a sourcing failure, not evidence of a cancellation. FOR THE RECORD ACROSS THE LINE: 2019-20 UNKNOWN, 2020-21 2021-03-09, 2021-22 2022-02-10, 2022-23 2023-02-02 (each of the latter three from two sources with the date unqualified), 2023-24 UNKNOWN. Note also that the estimate itself is out of pattern: the three known dates are all February or March, i.e. late in the season, while the estimate is December 28.
- G-012 WHICH PARTS OF THIS RELEASE REST ON A SINGLE SOURCE - AND THIS SEASON THAT IS ALMOST ALL OF IT, WHICH IS A MARKED REGRESSION FROM 2022-23. (a) THE PRODUCT ITSELF has exactly ONE catalogue page anywhere that was reachable in this pass: cardboardconnection (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards). tcdb does not catalogue the product at all this season (G-002); checklistcenter 404s; checklistinsider 404s; beckett 302s to a maintenance page; Panini America's own product URL https://www.paniniamerica.net/2023-24-panini-hoops-nba-premium-box-set.html returned only navigation and no product text on two attempts, and there is no Panini America blog launch post for this season - so the first-party manufacturer source that carried 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 is ABSENT. base_set_size, base_print_run, the autograph set's existence and card count, the channel and the (rejected) release date therefore all rest on cardboardconnection alone. (b) THE BASE CHECKLIST is the exception and is the best-corroborated thing here: the 300 card numbers, players and teams were read from cardboardconnection in ten enumerated asks AND independently from tcdb's parent set sid 388591 across three Checklist pages and nine Gallery pages covering every one of the 300 numbers. The two sources agree on the player and team of all 300 cards and differ on exactly one card number (G-007). tcdb is a genuinely independent structural source here, because it catalogues the PARENT product, not this one. (c) "TWO SOURCES" WARNING (EXTRACTION_SPEC 5.4): there is no second aggregator this season to worry about copying, because there is no second aggregator. (d) MARKETPLACE CORROBORATION, seen as search-result titles rather than fetched pages and therefore load-bearing for nothing: "2023-24 Panini NBA Hoops Premium Box Set /199 Paul George #206" (https://www.ebay.com/itm/235607993307), "2023-24 Panini NBA Hoops Premium Box Set /199 Chet Holmgren #24" (https://www.ebay.com/itm/235709409717), "2023-24 Panini NBA Hoops Premium Box Set #232 Scoot Henderson /199 CGC Gem MT 10" (https://www.ebay.de/itm/256853232847), "2023-24 NBA Hoops Premium Box Set Hunter Tyson RC /199 #259 Rookie" (https://www.ebay.de/itm/315136992743), "2023-24 Panini NBA Hoops - Alperen Sengun #172 Premium Box Set /199" (https://www.ebay.com/p/10064175046) and "2023-24 Panini NBA Hoops - Rookies Victor Wembanyama #277 Premium Box Set /199 (RC)" (https://www.ebay.com/p/14064157820). All six match this checklist at those numbers (206 Paul George, 24 Chet Holmgren, 232 Scoot Henderson, 259 Hunter Tyson, 172 Alperen Sengun, 277 Victor Wembanyama), all six carry /199, and the two carrying RC (259 and 277) fall inside the 231-280 rookie block, so the EXTRACTION_SPEC 4.3 temporal check passes on both - Hunter Tyson and Victor Wembanyama were both 2023 draftees. Nothing was written from any of them.
- G-013 ENDPOINT AND FETCH-COST MEASUREMENTS FROM THIS PASS, correcting the task briefing on one point and confirming it on another. (1) THE BRIEFING'S RULE - ceil(N/100) Checklist pages plus about 3 Gallery pages per FULL 100-row page - DID NOT HOLD ON THIS PARENT, and the reason is that the truncation point is far more variable than the measured 74-86 band suggests. https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=1, asked to transcribe as far as it could, STOPPED AT ROW 20 OF 100. Asked again at two cache-busted URLs with the rows ENUMERATED by number rather than open-ended, the same page delivered 21-50 complete and 51-73 before cutting off mid-row. So one Checklist page needed three asks and still left 74-100 to Gallery. ?PageIndex=2 delivered 101-140 and 141-180 under two enumerated asks and left 181-200 to Gallery; ?PageIndex=3 delivered 201-273 in a single open-ended ask, its best performance of the three. Measured total for full 300-number coverage of the parent: 6 Checklist asks over 3 URLs + 9 Gallery pages = 15 fetches, against the briefing's predicted 3 + 9 = 12 and against 30 for Gallery alone. (2) THE SHAPE OF THE ASK MATTERED MORE THAN ITS SIZE, exactly as briefed: the open-ended "go as far as you can" ask on page 1 returned 20 rows, while an enumerated "for each of cards 21, 22 ... 50" ask on the same page returned all 30. No fetch refused on copyright grounds this pass. (3) NO Gallery tile was silently dropped: all nine parent Gallery pages returned 10 of 10, each counted item by item rather than from the fetch's own stated total. (4) NO 503 was returned on any of the roughly 34 fetches in this pass, at a concurrency of 3. (5) Cache-busting discipline: every second reading of a page was issued under a URL varied by a harmless extra parameter or a different slug, never as a repeat call to an identical URL. (6) cardboardconnection tolerated ten consecutive enumerated 30-row asks under ?x=1 .. ?x=10 with no truncation and no refusal, which makes it a cheaper checklist source per row than tcdb on this product - worth knowing, because it is the only source this product has.
- G-014 CONTAMINATION SHAPE FOUR WAS TESTED FOR THIS SEASON; ITS STRUCTURAL PRECONDITION IS PRESENT, NO 2023-24 INSTANCE WAS FOUND, AND A NEW VARIANT OF THE SHAPE WAS FOUND AT 2024-25. THE PRECONDITION HOLDS: https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops lists BOTH "Silver" (sid 397771) and "Premium Stock" (sid 399149) among the parent set's 22 base parallels, and data/paninihoops-bkb-2023-24/parallels.csv carries a base-set-scope "Silver" at print_run 199 AND a base-set-scope "Premium Box Set" at print_run 199 - two distinct /199 tiers of the same 300-card checklist, exactly the configuration that produced a false "Premium Box Set Silver" label in 2021-22. A targeted search for a 2023-24 instance returned NONE. What it did return is a FIFTH and SIXTH variant of the same shape, both at 2024-25: "2024-25 Panini NBA Hoops Premium Box Set Silver Foil VETS #/199 CHOOSE YOUR CARD" (https://www.ebay.com/itm/398072766815), which invents the tier word "Silver Foil", and "2024-25 NBA Hoops Premium Box Set - PREMIUM STOCK FOIL /199! - Buy 3 Get 1 Free!" (https://www.ebay.com/itm/135574064517), which welds this product's name to the name of the SEPARATE Premium Stock retail line - a hybrid of contamination shape four and the Premium Stock confusion, and the first time the two traps have been seen combined in one title. The known 2021-22 instance is still live: "2021-22 Panini Hoops Premium Box Set Silver DeAndre Jordan /199 #107 Lakers SP" (https://www.ebay.com/itm/188488755243). NEGATIVE RESULT CAVEAT: absence in a search is weaker than absence in an enumeration, so this records "no 2023-24 instance was found", not "none exists". parallels.csv stays at zero rows (G-002), and a later pass meeting a "2023-24 Hoops Premium Box Set Silver" title should read it as the main set's Silver parallel and not as a parallel of this release.
- G-015 PRODUCT-NAME AND SET-NAME QUESTIONS (EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.1 / 5.1 - report, do not decide). product_name is written as "NBA Hoops Premium Box Set Basketball", which is what reference/brands.csv carries for brand hoopspremium (brd_01M2B8M6BJKF4BVCZ1A77FRZ27) and what hoopspremium-bkb-2019-20, -2020-21, -2021-22 and -2022-23 all carry, byte for byte. NO BRAND-IDENTITY ESCALATION IS NEEDED. The sources agree on the identity: cardboardconnection heads its page "2023-24 NBA Hoops Premium Box Set Basketball Cards Checklist" and names the product "2023-24 NBA Hoops Premium Box Set Basketball" in prose (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards). NOTE that tcdb, which carried the name "2022-23 Hoops - Premium Box Set" last season, prints nothing at all this season because it does not catalogue the product (G-002), so the name rests on one source. A SET-NAME DIVERGENCE IS RECORDED RATHER THAN RECONCILED: this release writes the autograph set as "Base Hoops Tribute Premium Box Set Autographs", which is what this season's source prints in both its section heading and its prose, and which matches data/paninihoops-bkb-2023-24/sets.csv byte for byte; hoopspremium-bkb-2021-22 and hoopspremium-bkb-2022-23 write the same object as "Hoops Tribute Premium Box Set Autographs" without the leading "Base", and hoopspremium-bkb-2019-20 and -2020-21 write "Premium Box Set Autographs". Three names for one recurring object across five seasons of one line, each taken from what that season's source printed. That is a resolver problem, not a brand problem, and it is recorded here rather than smoothed over. Also not written: the 2021-22 prose variant "Premium Collector's Series Set" did not recur this season and appears in no field.
- G-016 No pack odds and no scarcity tier are recorded for either set. This is a sealed complete factory box set with fixed contents sold as a single unit on the Panini website, not a pack product - cardboardconnection says "Full set per box" and, of the autograph, "1 per box" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards) - so per-set pack odds do not exist in the ordinary sense, and no source consulted states any odds figure. stated_odds, odds_evidence_url, odds_evidence_quote and scarcity_tier are therefore empty on both sets.csv rows. Same disposition as hoopspremium-bkb-2019-20 G-012, -2020-21 G-013, -2021-22 G-012 and -2022-23 G-016.
- G-017 THE EXTRACTION_SPEC 4.2 COPY CHECK FIRED AT ITS ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM - 300 OF 300 ON BOTH MEASURES - AND IS EXPLAINED, NOT DELETED. This base set IS the main 2023-24 Panini NBA Hoops base set, repackaged; a source says so in words (G-001). The signal is therefore expected and the right response is to investigate what it is made of. WHAT I INVESTIGATED, AND THE HONEST WEAKNESS: the 300/300 against data/paninihoops-bkb-2023-24/base_cards.csv is NOT independent corroboration, because that file was itself built from cardboardconnection - its own release notes say "cardboardconnection.com and checklistcenter.com agree card-for-card on all 300 base cards". Comparing my cardboardconnection reading to a file built from cardboardconnection is close to comparing a source with itself, and a perfect score is what that comparison should produce whether or not the page is right. THE INDEPENDENT CHECK I RAN INSTEAD: the parent set on tcdb (sid 388591) was read card by card across https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=1, 2 and 3 and https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=8, 9, 10, 19, 20, 24, 28, 29 and 30, covering every one of the 300 numbers, and the two readings were compared with a script rather than by eye. RESULT: tcdb and cardboardconnection agree on player_name and team_or_school for all 300 cards, with zero differing values, and differ on exactly one card NUMBER - cardboardconnection 208 against tcdb 209b (G-007). A second, weaker independent check: six marketplace titles carry a card number, a player and /199 and all six match this checklist (G-012). NOTE THE CONTRAST WITH 2022-23, where the same comparison read 296/300 with four team_or_school disagreements, all Utah-related 2022 offseason moves; the 2023 offseason produced no such disagreement here, and the likeliest reason is not that the catalogues got better but that both sides of the 2023-24 comparison trace to the same page.
- G-018 THE FETCH LAYER INVENTED A GLOSS FOR A tcdb FLAG TOKEN, EXACTLY AS EXTRACTION_SPEC 3.4 WARNS, AND THE GLOSS WAS REJECTED. Asked to reproduce the flag tokens on https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops?PageIndex=30, the fetch returned the token correctly and then added, unprompted, that it "typically indicates 'Hobby Trade' or similar designation in trading card sets". That expansion appears nowhere on the page and is wrong: the token is "HT" for Hoops Tribute, which is established not from tcdb at all but from cardboardconnection's printed words "all base, rookie and Hoops Tribute cards" and its section heading "Base Hoops Tribute Premium Box Set Autographs Checklist" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2023-24-nba-hoops-premium-box-set-basketball-cards), and from the token appearing on exactly the 20 cards 281-300 that cardboardconnection calls the Hoops Tribute block. The literal token "HT" is what is recorded in G-009; the invented gloss is written in no field. The same discipline was applied to "UER" on the 209b row (G-007): the token is recorded as a literal string and its meaning is taken from tcdb's own set-level note "Set contains two #209 due to a printing error on #208." (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/388591/2023-24-Hoops), not from a fetch's expansion of the letters. Recorded because this is the second documented occurrence of this defect on this project and the first on this line.
