- G-001 base_print_run is written unnumbered/assumed, NOT sourced. No source consulted states the base set's print run in words: cardboardconnection lists "100 cards." with no serial figure (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2016-17-panini-spectra-basketball-cards) and steelcitycollectibles carries no base-set statement (https://www.steelcitycollectibles.com/i/2016-17-panini-spectra-basketball-hobby-box); an omission is not a statement of fact (EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.1). The value rests on a within-release POSITIVE DISCRIMINATIVE TEST: the same renderer prints SN60/SN49/SN25/SN10/SN5/SN1 on every row of all six base-parallel sids while printing no flag token on any of the parent's 100 base rows across five differently-varied fetches. NOTE THE DIVERGENCE INSIDE THIS LINE: spectra-bkb-2018-19 carries base_print_run=175/base_print_run_basis=sourced and tcdb renders SN175 on its base rows, so a Spectra base run IS sometimes numbered and this verdict must not be read as a property of the line. spectra-bkb-2017-18 carries unnumbered/assumed, the same value as here, but was not used as evidence.
- G-002 Release date 2017-06-28 is stated by three sources, none of which labels it an estimate: tcdb's parent page "Release Date: June 28, 2017" (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/150969/2016-17-Panini-Spectra), cardboardconnection's PRODUCT page "Release Date: 6/28/2017" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2016-17-panini-spectra-basketball-cards) and steelcitycollectibles "Release Date: 6/28/17" (https://www.steelcitycollectibles.com/i/2016-17-panini-spectra-basketball-hobby-box). WHAT IS UNRESOLVED IS INDEPENDENCE: cardboardconnection and the retailer page plausibly both descend from Panini's sell sheet, and publication distance was not tested on either, so the honest reading is tcdb plus at most one further lineage. No date was taken from cardboardconnection's season index per specs/2016-17_SCOPE_MEMO.md 1a. beckett.com 302-redirects to https://maintenance.beckett.com/ (CAV-033), so the third structural source is unavailable.
- G-003 SET-LEVEL PRINT RUNS CANNOT BE STORED. sets.csv has no print_run column (EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.2) and these are properties of the set rather than parallel tiers, so they exist only as prose in sets.csv notes and here. FLAT, confirmed by reading every row of the sid: Catalysts #/149 (MEM, SN149 on all 32 rows, https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/153802/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Catalysts); Global Icons Memorabilia Autographs #/199 (all 4 rows); In the Zone Autographed Memorabilia #/149 (all 19 rows); Locked In Autographed Memorabilia #/199 (all 19 rows); Next Era #/149 (all 36 rows); Rising Stars Memorabilia Autographs #/199 (all 21 rows); Rookie Jersey Autographs #/300 (AU, MEM, SN300 on all 41 rows, https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/153764/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Rookie-Jersey-Autographs). NOT FLAT, and therefore not writeable as a figure anywhere: Spectacular Swatches, distinct token set {MEM, SN149, SN134} over its own 36 rows; Spectacular Swatches Autographs, distinct token set {AU, MEM, SN149, SN99, SN49, SN25} over its own 49 rows.
- G-004 AN EDITORIAL FLAT FIGURE REFUTED BY ENUMERATION. cardboardconnection states "36 cards. Serial numbered #/149" unhedged (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2016-17-panini-spectra-basketball-cards). Reading all 36 rows of https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/153750/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Spectacular-Swatches gives SN149 on 35 rows and "MEM, SN134" on card 3 Isaiah Thomas, confirmed character for character on a second differently-varied endpoint (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/153750/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Spectacular-Swatches). The same shape appears on Spectacular Swatches Autographs, where cardboardconnection states a count and no run and the rows carry four different serial tokens. This is the 2017-18 sibling's finding reproducing on a different season of the same line, and it is the reason no editorial flat figure in this release was promoted to a print run without a row-level sweep behind it.
- G-005 Written UNKNOWN/UNKNOWN because the tier's OWN rows disagree. Every row of the sid was read at https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/153803/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Catalysts-Gold - the page's "Total Cards" and my own count of rendered rows agree, so this is a full sweep and not a sample. Distinct token set: {MEM, SN10, SN8, SN6} over 32 rows - SN10 on 30 rows, SN6 on card 1 Dennis Schroder, SN8 on card 16 Monta Ellis. HELD FACT THE SCHEMA CANNOT CARRY: the tier IS provably serial numbered with a per-card variable run (EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.3). The modal token was NOT written as a print run. This is the expressiveness gap recorded in reference/caveats.csv CAV-041; it is survivable here only because all thirteen affected tiers are set-scope, where UNKNOWN is legal. Had any been base-scope there would be no legal row at all.
- G-006 Written UNKNOWN/UNKNOWN because the tier's OWN rows disagree. Every row of the sid was read at https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/153806/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Catalysts-Neon-Blue - the page's "Total Cards" and my own count of rendered rows agree, so this is a full sweep and not a sample. Distinct token set: {MEM, SN99, SN90, SN72} over 32 rows - SN99 on 30 rows, SN90 on card 3 Isaiah Thomas, SN72 on card 17 Jamal Crawford.
- G-007 Written UNKNOWN/UNKNOWN because the tier's OWN rows disagree. Every row of the sid was read at https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/153807/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Catalysts-Neon-Green - the page's "Total Cards" and my own count of rendered rows agree, so this is a full sweep and not a sample. Distinct token set: {MEM, SN25, SN11, SN17} over 32 rows - SN25 on 30 rows, SN11 on card 1 Dennis Schroder, SN17 on card 29 Eric Bledsoe.

Every row of the sid was read at https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/153786/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Locked-In-Autographed-Memorabilia-Green - the page's "Total Cards" and my own count of rendered rows agree, so this is a full sweep and not a sample. Distinct token set: {AU, MEM, SN5, SN4} over 46 rows - SN5 on 45 rows, SN4 on card 39 Buddy Hield. HELD FACT THE SCHEMA CANNOT CARRY: the tier IS provably serial numbered with a per-card variable run (EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.3). The modal token was NOT written as a print run. Every row of the sid was read at https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/153778/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Next-Era-Gold - the page's "Total Cards" and my own count of rendered rows agree, so this is a full sweep and not a sample. Distinct token set: {SN10, SN7} over 34 rows - SN10 on 33 rows, SN7 on card 40 Norman Powell. Distinct token set: {MEM, SN10, SN6} over 55 rows - SN10 on 52 rows, SN6 on cards 48 Eric Bledsoe, 49 Evan Turner and 57 DeMar DeRozan. HELD FACT THE SCHEMA CANNOT CARRY: the tier IS provably serial numbered with a per-card variable run (EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.3). The modal token was NOT written as a print run. Had any been base-scope there would be no legal row at all.
- G-018 A STRUCTURAL ODDITY IN EVERY BASE-PARALLEL SID, RECORDED BECAUSE IT IS UNRESOLVED. All six base-parallel sids (153737 Gold, 153738 Green, 153739 Nebula, 153740 Neon Green, 153741 Pink, 153742 Neon Blue) render cards 1-59 and 61-100 plus ONE row numbered 145 (Ben Simmons): card 60, which IS Ben Simmons on the parent's base run, is absent at every colour tier and the 145 row stands in its place. 99 + 1 = 100 reconciles each sid's own "Total Cards: 100". The row-count-versus-number-span arithmetic predicted it independently on three tiers before the 145 row was seen (Checklist.cfm returned 85 rows over span 1-86 on Gold, 87 over 1-88 on Green, 83 over 1-84 on Nebula - each exactly one short at 60). Confirmed on two differently-varied fetches for Gold, the second quoting the number string as "[145]" (https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/153737/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Gold?PageIndex=10&sort=0). WHAT IS NOT RESOLVED: whether 145 is a number printed on a card or a tcdb artefact. 145 sits immediately above this product's Rookie Jersey Autographs block (102-144, sid 153764), so it is not a gap in that block either. https://www.tcdb.com/Errors.cfm/sid/150969/2016-17-Panini-Spectra and https://www.tcdb.com/Errors.cfm/sid/153737/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Gold both return "No errors or variations have been added for this set yet." and per CAV-020 that sentence discriminates nothing, so NOTHING is concluded from it. Two leads that were NOT fetched and are recorded as leads only, not as evidence: a comc search result is titled "2016-17 Panini Spectra - [Base] #60.1 - Rookies - Ben Simmons", which would make it a variation of card 60 rather than a card 145, but comc returns 403 through this environment's egress proxy so the page was never opened and a search-result title is not the listing; and a blowoutforums thread is titled "Where are the 2016-17 Panini Limited Ben Simmons #145 SP RCs?", i.e. 145 is Ben Simmons's number in a DIFFERENT 2016-17 Panini product, which makes a cross-product data-entry leak worth checking - that is a coincidence to test, not a finding. base_cards.csv is unaffected: it carries 60 Ben Simmons, confirmed on two fetches of the parent.
- G-019 CARD COUNTS CONTRADICTED BY THE SETS' OWN COLOUR TIERS - recorded rather than smoothed, and this is the largest open question in the release. For six of the ten insert/auto sets, tcdb's base page and cardboardconnection agree on a count while the set's own parallel sids state and render MORE rows over a WIDER number span: Spectacular Swatches 36 against tiers of 52, 55, 55, 60, 60 and 64 rows spanning card numbers 1-65; Locked In Autographed Memorabilia 19 against 26, 42, 46, 48 and 52 spanning 1-60; In the Zone Autographed Memorabilia 19 against 20, 25, 25, 26 and 27 spanning 1-35; Global Icons Memorabilia Autographs 4 against 4, 11, 12, 13 and 13 spanning 1-15; Catalysts 32 against 32, 32, 32, 35, 36 and 40 spanning 1-40; Rising Stars Memorabilia Autographs 21 against 12, 14, 22, 23 and 23 spanning 1-25; Next Era 36 against 30, 34, 36, 37, 37 and 38 spanning 1-40. Rookie Jersey Autographs, Spectacular Swatches Autographs and Triple Threat Materials do NOT show it. card_count is written from the two sources that state a count and agree, because CHASE_CHECKLIST_SPEC 1c-ter makes the independent third party the discriminator and here the third party sides with the base page. BUT the same spec warns that an aggregator agreeing with tcdb is evidence of a shared upstream rather than corroboration, and cardboardconnection agrees with tcdb on 10 of 10 counts in this release with no figure differing by one - which is the shared-upstream signature. So the alternative reading, that these base pages are simply short and the real sets are the size of their largest tier, is live and unresolved. The maximum rendered row count per set is recorded above so a repair pass does not have to re-fetch. Tier rosters here are demonstrably NON-NESTED (no tier is a superset of another; e.g. Triple Threat Materials' base page carries card 8 Paul Millsap which Gold lacks, while Gold carries card 14 Jaylen Brown which the base page lacks), so a union over tiers is not a safe count either.
- G-020 SET NAMES DIFFER BETWEEN SOURCES AND tcdb'S FORM WAS USED, as the 2017-18 sibling did. cardboardconnection writes "Catalysts Relics" for tcdb's "Catalysts" and "Next Era Relics" for tcdb's "Next Era" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2016-17-panini-spectra-basketball-cards); the other eight names agree byte for byte. Note also that tcdb's own Inserts.cfm listing writes "In the Zone Autographed Memorabilia" with a lower-case "the" (https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/150969/2016-17-Panini-Spectra) and that form is reproduced verbatim. No name was tidied.
- G-021 INSERT-SET PARALLEL LADDERS ARE SINGLE-SOURCED TO tcdb. All 56 set-scope rows carry source_confidence=single. No editorial source enumerates a per-tier print run for any insert or autograph set in this release: cardboardconnection gives one set-level figure per set and nothing per colour (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2016-17-panini-spectra-basketball-cards), and no second editorial checklist for this product could be reached (see the lineage gap). MARKETPLACE CORROBORATION WAS NOT ATTEMPTED on any tier - the 2017-18 memo records it working on that season and there is no evidence either way for 2016-17. The six BASE-scope rows are the exception and are multi: cardboardconnection states Neon Blue #/60, Pink #/49, Neon Green #/25, Gold #/10, Green #/5 and Nebula 1/1, and tcdb's row-level token agrees on all six over every row.
- G-022 ONE EDITORIAL LINEAGE ONLY. A WebSearch scoped to checklistcenter.com returned its 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 Spectra pages and a 2016 Spectra SOCCER page, but NO 2016-17 basketball page; per CAV-037 no checklistcenter URL was constructed, so this is a search-result absence and not an absence claim. beckett.com 302s to https://maintenance.beckett.com/ (CAV-033 reproduced on https://www.beckett.com/news/2016-17-panini-spectra-basketball-offers-plenty-of-hits-and-shine/, which was never opened). checklistinsider, sportscardchecklist, breakninja and waxstat were not swept. CONSEQUENCE: every editorially-sourced value in this release rests on cardboardconnection alone, and where a value is marked multi the second source is tcdb's own row-level rendering rather than a second editorial catalogue.
- G-023 channel=hobby on all 62 rows rests on PRODUCT-LEVEL PRESENCE, not on a per-tier claim and not on exclusivity. The citation is a retailer product page titled "2016-17 Panini Spectra Basketball Hobby Box" (https://www.steelcitycollectibles.com/i/2016-17-panini-spectra-basketball-hobby-box), which places the product in the hobby channel and says nothing about any individual tier; channel_basis is therefore sourced-presence and channel_confidence single. cardboardconnection gives only a configuration line ("10 cards per pack, 1 pack per box, 6 boxes per case") and makes no hobby or retail statement at all, and tcdb makes none. Per CAV-010 a single named channel value asserts exclusivity, which this evidence does NOT support; the weaker reading is what sourced-presence exists to record. channel_sku is empty because no source names a box type beyond "Hobby Box" itself. No retail, blaster, international or FOTL SKU was found for this product.
- G-024 rookie_flag is UNKNOWN on all 100 base cards. tcdb renders NO flag token of any kind on any base row across five differently-varied fetches (https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/150969/2016-17-Panini-Spectra default and ?sort=0, plus Gallery.cfm pages 8, 9 and 10), so there is no RC designation to read, and per CAV-003 that is the normal state for a Panini release rather than missing research. 2016-17 is the Simmons/Ingram/Hield/Brown rookie year and the base run demonstrably contains rookies (60 Ben Simmons), so the flag is unresolved rather than absent. team_or_school is filled for all 100 rows from the same renderings, for the whole set rather than piecemeal.
- G-025 VARIATION SETS UNSUPPORTED, NOT DISPROVED. https://www.tcdb.com/Errors.cfm/sid/150969/2016-17-Panini-Spectra returns "No errors or variations have been added for this set yet." and so does https://www.tcdb.com/Errors.cfm/sid/153737/2016-17-Panini-Spectra---Gold . Per CAV-020 that sentence discriminates nothing - the same string is returned for sets that provably carry UER rows - so both responses are quoted here as evidence about the ENDPOINT and are not used to conclude that this release has no variation layer. What does rest on independent evidence is the base run: 100 rows, contiguous 1-100, no letter-suffixed number on any rendering, and nothing filed past 100.
- G-026 NOT IN SCOPE FOR THIS PASS: insert_cards.csv. Card-level checklists for the ten non-base sets are a separate pass governed by CHASE_CHECKLIST_SPEC.md and no insert_cards.csv was written. The numbering schemes were observed in passing and SPLIT WITHIN THIS RELEASE, which the next pass should not assume away: Spectacular Swatches Autographs is letter-coded with an SS- prefix (SS-AFA, SS-KBR, SS-WB4 - note WB4, a digit-bearing suffix for Wade Baldwin IV, which is printed and must not be "repaired"); Rookie Jersey Autographs is an own-block of plain integers 102-144 with 122 and 131 absent; and the other eight sets render PLAIN ORDINALS with holes (Catalysts 1-40, Next Era 1-40, Spectacular Swatches 1-65, Triple Threat Materials 1-19, In the Zone 1-35, Locked In 1-60, Rising Stars 1-25, Global Icons 1-15). Plain ordinals on a memorabilia set are the documented placeholder smell, so those eight need the parallel-page test and a marketplace title before any card_number is written from them.
- G-027 NO FLOOR IS CLAIMED FOR THIS LINE AND NONE SHOULD BE INFERRED FROM THE SEASONS PRESENT IN data/. specs/2016-17_SCOPE_MEMO.md 3a records Spectra present in tcdb's 2015-16 index (sid 127637) and its 2014-15 index (sid 106159), so at least two seasons sit below this one. Per the memo's Studio lesson, absence from an index would not have settled it either way; here the indexes are positive, so the line demonstrably runs deeper.
- G-028 SINGLE WEAKEST CLAIM IN THIS RELEASE, named deliberately: the card_count of Spectacular Swatches, written as 36. It is the widest of the six base-page/parallel-page disagreements - six of its own colour sids state and render between 52 and 64 rows over card numbers 1-65 while the base page states and renders 36 - and the third party that is supposed to break the tie, cardboardconnection, agrees with tcdb on 10 of 10 set counts in this release with no figure differing by one, which is the shared-upstream signature that disarms it. If the base page is simply short, as CHASE_CHECKLIST_SPEC 1c-ter describes, then 36 understates the set by roughly 28 cards and five of the other nine counts are wrong in the same direction. Nothing in this pass settled it and no third editorial catalogue for this product could be reached.
