- G-001 ROW DELIBERATELY NOT WRITTEN, AND THIS GAP IS THE WHOLE RECORD OF IT. "Aspirations" is a real, fully-sourced BASE-SET parallel of this release: tcdb files it under the parent's "Parallel Sets" heading (https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/163967/2017-18-Panini-Status), its own sid 167493 states Total Cards "150", sportscardchecklist lists "2017-18 Panini Status Aspirations (150 Cards)" (https://www.sportscardchecklist.com/sport-basketball/year-2017-18/index-panini-status/trading-card-checklists-and-product-information), and cardboardconnection carries an Aspirations parallel checklist section (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-status-basketball-nba-cards). IT IS SERIAL NUMBERED WITH A PER-CARD VARIABLE RUN, enumerated not sampled. Checklist.cfm?PageIndex=1&sort=0 rows 1-82 render 32 distinct tokens - SN56, SN58, SN59, SN60, SN65, SN66, SN67, SN68, SN69, SN70, SN73, SN75, SN76, SN77, SN78, SN79, SN80, SN83, SN85, SN86, SN87, SN88, SN89, SN90, SN91, SN92, SN93, SN94, SN95, SN97, SN98, SN99 - and Checklist.cfm?PageIndex=2 renders a per-card list over rows 101-150 whose distinct set is SN45, SN50, SN55, SN59, SN63, SN67, SN68, SN69, SN70, SN75, SN76, SN77, SN78, SN79, SN80, SN85, SN87, SN89, SN90, SN92, SN93, SN95, SN96, SN97, SN98, SN99. Confirmed on a SECOND endpoint: https://www.tcdb.com/Gallery.cfm/sid/167493/2017-18-Panini-Status---Aspirations?PageIndex=1&sort=0 renders cards 1-10 as SN83, SN77, SN56, SN59, SN78, SN92, SN97, SN98, SN87, SN85 - identical to the Checklist values character for character. So print_run and serial_numbered are both UNKNOWN by EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.3, and migrations/003_parallels.sql's unknown_run_only_when_scoped CHECK forbids print_run=UNKNOWN at scope_type=base-set. EXTRACTION_SPEC 6 says to remove the row and carry the finding here, so that is what was done. THIS IS THE FIFTH SEASON IN A ROW THE SAME EXPRESSIVENESS GAP HAS COST A REAL TIER, and it is a schema problem, not an agent problem: the catalogue now has no row at all for a parallel that provably exists. Rows 83-100 were not enumerated because the verdict cannot change - variability is already proved twice over.
- G-002 ROW DELIBERATELY NOT WRITTEN - same cause as G-001. "Status" is a real BASE-SET parallel: tcdb files it under the parent's "Parallel Sets" heading, sid 167494 states Total Cards "150", sportscardchecklist lists "2017-18 Panini Status Status (150 Cards)" (https://www.sportscardchecklist.com/sport-basketball/year-2017-18/index-panini-status/trading-card-checklists-and-product-information), and cardboardconnection carries a Status parallel checklist section. IT IS SERIAL NUMBERED WITH A PER-CARD VARIABLE RUN. https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/167494/2017-18-Panini-Status---Status?PageIndex=1&sort=0 renders 31 distinct tokens over rows 1-78 - SN1, SN2, SN3, SN4, SN5, SN6, SN7, SN8, SN9, SN10, SN11, SN12, SN13, SN14, SN15, SN17, SN20, SN21, SN22, SN23, SN25, SN27, SN31, SN32, SN33, SN34, SN35, SN40, SN41, SN42, SN44 - and PageIndex=2 renders a per-card list over 101-150 with distinct set SN1, SN2, SN3, SN4, SN5, SN7, SN8, SN10, SN11, SN13, SN15, SN20, SN21, SN22, SN23, SN24, SN25, SN30, SN31, SN32, SN33, SN37, SN41, SN45, SN50, SN55. Confirmed on a second endpoint: Gallery.cfm PageIndex=1&sort=0 renders cards 1-10 as SN17, SN23, SN44, SN41, SN22, SN8, SN3, SN2, SN13, SN15, identical to Checklist. print_run and serial_numbered are therefore both UNKNOWN, which the database forbids at base-set scope, so the row was removed per EXTRACTION_SPEC 6. UNSOURCED OBSERVATION, RECORDED AS A LEAD AND NOT AS A VALUE: those ten tokens are each equal to the player's 2017-18 jersey number (Redick 17, Butler 23, Bogdanovic 44, Nowitzki 41, Bradley 22, Howard 8, Rubio 3, Wall 2, Morris 13, Walker 15). NO SOURCE CONSULTED STATES A NUMBERING RULE for either this tier or Aspirations, and nothing was written on the strength of the pattern. Someone should look for a Panini or editorial statement of the rule; if one exists it belongs in this release's notes, though it still would not make print_run a single integer.
- G-003 THREE SET-SCOPE TIERS CARRY print_run=UNKNOWN AND serial_numbered=UNKNOWN BECAUSE THEIR OWN ROWS DISAGREE. The modal token was deliberately not written. Enumerated, not sampled: (1) Elite Signatures Pink, sid 167501, AU on all 29 rows with SN99 on 24 and SN25 on 5; (2) Legendary Signatures Pink, sid 167512, AU on all 9 rows with SN99 on 6 and SN25 on 3 - and cardboardconnection independently reports the split rather than a flat figure, "Legendary Signatures: 10 cards with Pink #/99 or #/25, Gold #/10 parallels" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-status-basketball-nba-cards), which is a disjunction and not a print run; (3) Draft Night Hat Relics Prime, sid 167498, MEM with SN25 on 14 rows, SN17 on 2 and SN14 on 1. In all three the tier is PROVABLY serial numbered and the UNKNOWN/UNKNOWN pairing is indistinguishable from "nothing was found" - the collapse EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.3 describes. The real values live in each row's visual_notes and here.
- G-004 FIVE SETS HAVE A SET-LEVEL PRINT RUN THAT sets.csv CANNOT HOLD - there is no print_run column there and card_count means how many cards (EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.2 and 5.4). Recorded in words in each row's notes and here. (1) Swatches Relics, sid 167526: SN99 on all 27 rendered rows, and cardboardconnection states "Swatches Relics: 29 cards numbered #/99" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-status-basketball-nba-cards) - a UNIFORM #/99, the one of the five that is a single figure. (2) Draft Night Autographs, sid 167495: variable, distinct tokens SN23, SN24, SN27, SN29, SN31, SN32. (3) Draft Night Autographs Inscriptions, sid 167496: variable, distinct tokens SN1, SN3, SN5, SN6, SN8, SN9. (4) Draft Night Hat Relics, sid 167497: variable, SN99 on 10 rows, SN56 on 3, SN28 on 4. (5) Legendary Signatures, sid 167510: split, SN199 on 8 rows and SN49 on 2. None of the five is a parallel tier, so none can be moved into parallels.csv without inventing a tier that no source names.
- G-005 CHANNEL IS `hobby` WITH channel_basis=sourced-presence, AND THE DISTINCTION IS LOAD-BEARING. The only channel statement any source consulted makes is cardboardconnection's "2017-18 Panini Status Basketball enters the NBA card mix with one signed card in every hobby box." Under caveats.csv CAV-010 a named channel value asserts EXCLUSIVITY, and that sentence asserts only presence, so no hobby-exclusivity claim is made anywhere in this release. NO SOURCE SAYS THE PRODUCT WAS NOT ALSO SOLD AT RETAIL, and nobody should read `hobby` here as saying it was not. Corroborating box-configuration statements exist but do not use the word hobby: cardboardconnection "6 cards per pack, 10 packs per box, 20 boxes per case" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-status-basketball-nba-cards), gogts.net "2017-18 Panini Status NBA Basketball Cards delivers (1) Autographed Card, (10) Rookies and (10) Inserts/Parallels in Every Box!" (https://gogts.net/2017-18-panini-status-nba-basketball-cards-checklist/) and breakninja "20 Boxes per Case - 10 Packs per Box - 6 Cards per Pack" (https://www.breakninja.com/17-18-Panini-Status-Basketball-Checklist.html). channel_confidence is therefore `single`: one source uses the word.
- G-007 NO CLAIM IS MADE EITHER WAY ABOUT A PHOTO-VARIATION SET. Errors.cfm was deliberately NOT fetched as evidence of absence, because caveats.csv CAV-020 records that its silence discriminates nothing - it returns the same sentence on a set that provably has errata and on one that appears not to, and 43 rows across 32 releases were marked for exactly this mistake. What IS established is narrower and rests on contiguous enumeration: cards 1-150 are contiguous with no unissued interior number, and Gallery.cfm's pagination control stops at page 15 of 15 while PageIndex=16 renders no tiles, so nothing is filed past 150. A b-suffixed variation layer would not surface in a base-run enumeration and Gallery.cfm strips the b suffix, so it remains unchecked.
- G-008 SIX CHECKABLE COUNT DIVERGENCES, EACH RESOLVED ON THE MAJORITY OF RENDERINGS AND RECORDED HERE. (1) Freshman Signatures: tcdb header 29 over 29 rendered rows and cardboardconnection "29 cards" against sportscardchecklist "Freshman Signatures (27 Cards)" (https://www.sportscardchecklist.com/sport-basketball/year-2017-18/index-panini-status/trading-card-checklists-and-product-information) - written as 29. (2) Swatches Relics: tcdb 27 over 27 rendered rows and sportscardchecklist 27 against cardboardconnection "29 cards" - written as 27. (3) Signatures: tcdb header 40, cardboardconnection 40 and sportscardchecklist 40 all agree, but the fetch rendered only 39 rows - read as the documented tail truncation, and 40 was written. (4) Signatures Gold and (5) Signatures Pink: tcdb headers 39 against sportscardchecklist 40. (6) Elite Signatures Pink 29 against 30, and Freshman Signatures Pink 29 against 28. Divergences 4-6 are on PARALLEL rosters, which parallels.csv has no column for, so they are recorded in visual_notes and here only. Nothing was averaged and no figure was invented. Per the corrected CAV-037, cardboardconnection and sportscardchecklist were read as possibly one lineage by default; these six divergences are the checkable evidence that they are not identical on this product, but that is not enough to call them independent and no source_confidence was promoted on it.
- G-009 A REAL CARD-CODE COLLISION INSIDE ONE SET, NOT AN ERROR TO FIX. https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/167304/2017-18-Panini-Status---Signatures?PageIndex=1&sort=0 renders TWO different rows both coded SG-MJS - one Mike James and one Magic Johnson. Card numbers are never normalised, so both codes stand as printed. The consequence is for whoever runs the CHASE_CHECKLIST_SPEC pass on this release: a resolver keying on set_name plus card_number alone will collide on these two cards, and insert_cards.csv will need both rows. The 2017-18 scope memo 7.7 warns about prefix collisions ACROSS products in this season; this is the same hazard INSIDE one set.
- G-011 base_print_run is `unnumbered` with basis `assumed`, NOT `sourced`. No source states in words that the base cards carry no serial number. What exists is strong indirect evidence plus a within-product positive discriminative control: no serial token renders on any of the 150 base rows across five separate readings (Checklist.cfm PageIndex=1, the same with sort=0, Checklist.cfm PageIndex=2, and Gallery.cfm pages 3, 8, 9, 10 and 11), while the SAME two renderers print SN299, SN199, SN149, SN75, SN10 and SN1 on this product's own parallel sids. EXTRACTION_SPEC 2.1 is explicit that this is `assumed`, not `sourced`.
- G-012 rookie_flag=no ON CARDS 85-100 RESTS ON ONE ENDPOINT. The positive half is strong: tcdb renders RC on every one of cards 101-150 on Checklist.cfm?PageIndex=2 and again on Gallery.cfm?PageIndex=11 for 101-110. The negative half for 1-84 was read twice, on Checklist.cfm?PageIndex=1 (rows 1-72) and Checklist.cfm?PageIndex=1&sort=0 (rows 1-84), and on Gallery.cfm pages 3, 8 and 9. Cards 85-100 were read on Gallery.cfm pages 9 and 10 ONLY - one endpoint - though with a within-endpoint positive control, since Gallery.cfm renders RC on page 11 and nothing on pages 3, 8, 9 and 10. Per the 2026-09-20 direction-neutral correction a token you do not see is weak evidence, so those sixteen rows are the weakest rookie_flag values in the file. No editorial source splits the base set into a veteran block and a rookie block, so there is no second lineage for it.
- G-014 checklistcenter.com, normally the second aggregator leg on this season, WAS NOT REACHED - and per caveats.csv CAV-037 no absence claim is made from that. No URL was constructed: a web search for a checklistcenter 2017-18 Panini Status page returned no checklistcenter result at all, and its slugs are irregular enough that guessing one and reading a 404 would have been evidence of nothing. beckett.com appeared in search results for this product but is documented unreachable for this season (302 to a maintenance page) and was not fetched. sportscardchecklist.com was used as the third structural lineage instead and carried per-tier counts for all 59 entries in one fetch. Someone with a working checklistcenter path should re-run the count divergences in G-008 against it.
- G-015 NO PACK ODDS AND NO SCARCITY STATEMENT WAS FOUND FOR ANY SET OR TIER, so stated_odds, odds_evidence_url and odds_evidence_quote are empty on all 16 sets.csv rows and all 41 parallels.csv rows, and scarcity_tier is empty on 40 of 41 parallel rows and on all 16 set rows. The single exception is the base Pursuit tier, where cardboardconnection annotates the parallel line "Pursuit (case hit)" (https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2017-18-panini-status-basketball-nba-cards) - written as scarcity_tier=case-hit. Four sources were read for odds (cardboardconnection, gogts.net, breakninja, sportscardchecklist) and all four publish box configuration rather than insertion ratios.
- G-016 AN EXCH ROW EXISTS AND IS RECORDED RATHER THAN DROPPED. https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/167507/2017-18-Panini-Status---Freshman-Signatures?PageIndex=1&sort=0 renders 29 rows with AU on 28 and AU plus EXCH on one, code FS-WIV (Wesley Iwundu), carrying the note "Issued via Panini Rewards." That matches the 2017-18 scope memo's finding that EXCH rows are present on this season. It matters for the card-level pass: an EXCH row converts an unresolved placeholder into evidenced absence, and it must appear in insert_cards.csv rather than being read as a missing card.
- G-018 NO PRIOR-SEASON OR CROSS-SEASON BLOCK IS FILED INSIDE THIS PARENT, checked positively rather than assumed. EXTRACTION_SPEC 5.5 requires such blocks to be LISTED in sets.csv and flagged, not gapped away. https://www.tcdb.com/Inserts.cfm/sid/163967/2017-18-Panini-Status enumerates 46 insert rows and 12 parallel rows in one fetch with no truncation, and every one of the 58 is a 2017-18 Panini Status set - no Update block, no other season, no other product. So there is nothing of that shape to list. The mirror direction (EXTRACTION_SPEC 5.5, a 2017-18 Update block filed inside the 2018-19 parent) was NOT checked, and it did not need to be for base-run purposes because the base run 1-150 is contiguous with no unissued number to explain; if a 2017-18 Status Update set exists under the 2018-19 parent it would still be missing from this release's sets.csv.
- G-019 CARD-LEVEL CHECKLISTS FOR THE 15 INSERT AND AUTOGRAPH SETS ARE OUT OF SCOPE for this pass (CHASE_CHECKLIST_SPEC governs them) and no insert_cards.csv was written. sets.csv records that each set exists with its card_count and set_type, and per-set card codes were seen but not transcribed - Signatures uses SG- codes, Materials M- codes, Freshman Signatures FS-. Whoever runs that pass should read G-010 first: the SG-MJS collision means set_name plus card_number is not unique inside Signatures.
- G-021 AN UNRESOLVED AMBIGUITY WORTH FLAGGING, AND IT IS NOT A REFUTATION. An eBay title reads "Alex English 2017-18 Panini Status Elite Signatures Auto #ES-AEG /99 Nuggets" (https://www.ebay.de/itm/257127722863) - a /99 serial on an Elite Signatures card. tcdb's Elite Signatures PARENT sid 167499 renders AU and NO serial token on any row, confirmed on two endpoints (Checklist.cfm and Gallery.cfm, the latter showing code ES-AEG itself with AU and nothing else). The likely reading is that the listing is an Elite Signatures PINK card - that tier renders SN99 on 24 of its 29 rows - with the seller omitting the colour, and parallel tiers in this release share the parent's card codes exactly (Materials Gold and Materials Pink both render M-AGD through M-ZCL), so the CODE cannot distinguish parent from parallel. The alternative reading is that tcdb drops the serial column on the parent, which would make the parent tier numbered. NOTHING WAS WRITTEN EITHER WAY: sets.csv cannot hold a print run and no parallels row exists for a parent tier, so no value in this release depends on the answer. Resolving it needs a listing that names the colour, or a scan.
- G-022 FOUR SETS CARRY AN AU-ABSENCE OR MEM-ABSENCE READING FROM Checklist.cfm ALONE, and set_type depends on it. Rookie Essentials Relics (no AU), Rookie Credentials (no AU, no MEM), Status Quo (no AU, no MEM), Symbols (no AU, no MEM) and Draft Night Hat Relics (no AU) were each read once. The control is within-product and on the same endpoint, which is the strongest form available short of a second endpoint: that renderer prints AU on seven of this release's sets and MEM on four, so it is demonstrably not suppressing the column across this product. Three comparable absences WERE re-read on Gallery.cfm and all three agreed - Elite Signatures, Materials and Factions - which is why the remaining five are recorded as weaker rather than as suspect. If any of them is in fact signed, its set_type should be `auto` rather than `insert`.
